Cafetería Pazo — Restaurant in Corcubión

On walking in the woman at the bar in glasses (the chef perhaps?) glared across with a “what do you want”; the kind of hostility that tends to come from those less tolerant of diversity. Sensing the awkwardness the waiter quickly came over and found us a seat.

We ordered, asking for an ingredient to be left out of the salad. When the food came, it turned out that there was cheese, which my partner is allergic to. So I asked, kindly and gently, for another salad, this time without cheese, and was really clear that we would happily pay for all of it. Pretty simple, huh? Not so much.

The shouting from the kitchen swelled and she came storming out, yelling and pointing at us, “no one tells me how to make a salad” - this went on for some time. The waiter returned to say that there was no more food. We paid and left shortly afterwards.

Perhaps this won’t bother you if you go and they are having a better day. Perhaps it won’t bother you if you aren’t visibly different. Perhaps you don’t mind shutting up and eating what they tell you to eat! But if these things matter to you, and perhaps they should, then there are other...

Wonderful food and exceptional service, and very kid-friendly! The gentleman who runs the dining area is the hardest worker I have ever seen in any restaurant. We came here five times in a single week and are looking forward to returning next time we are...
