Jamse & l´arròs — Restaurant in Dénia

We came to this restaurant for Christmas lunch. Although the reservation was made back in October, for some reason we were placed in the middle of the restaurant, where guests and waiters were constantly moving us trying yo pass around with plates full of food. The food didn't arrive on time or we would only get a small plate of appetizers for the ten of us. Menu didn't match with what we got on our plates. It is clear to me that the restaurant was full and that the waiters were working hard, but this is not the way to run a restaurant. This lunch for me, who doesn't live in Spain, wasnt typical, to wait for meal from 14:00 to 19:00. This family will not return here for sure. There are many better and nicer restaurants in Denia, with a better ratio of food...

Sí, me refería al antiguo Jamse. Sé que estáis abiertos desde Diciembre, de hecho el día 2 de Enero fui a comer junto a unos amigos. A partir de ahí he ido varias veces más, soy cliente de hace muchos años, tanto del antiguo Jamse como de la Casa del Arros. Lo que he visto por el momento me ha gustado, mantenéis los precios y el buen producto, y habéis reducido considerablemente las esperas durante la comida. El antiguo Jamse tenía una clientela muy extensa y fiel, que en cuanto se corra la voz de que está abierto de nuevo seguro que se pasan a probar. Si conseguís seguir reduciendo los tiempos de espera durante la comida (Jamse funcionaba de forma que te servían el arroz a la hora que tú les dijeras, no te lo empezaban a preparar una vez que llegabas, por eso el servicio era muy rápido), el producto sigue siendo el mismo y los precios los mantenéis, tendréis éxito seguro. Los meses de verano serán muy importantes, os deseo mucha suerte.

Sin lugar a dudas, fue uno de los sitios de referencia para tomar arroz en Denia, hasta que los antiguos propietarios lo dejaron tras varias décadas de dedicación. La paella te la servían a la hora que tú dijeras, y nunca llevó nada de retraso, eso no lo he visto en ningún otro restaurante Lo cogió un cocinero que decía tener varios restaurantes en Valencia, y la verdad es que le quedó grande. Teniendo una clientela fiel de muchos años, en vez de llevar una línea continuista empezó a hacer experimentos con la carta (quedó reducida a unos pocos platos solamente) y al final perdió todos los clientes, muchos de ellos llevaban yendo desde que estaba abierto. 6 meses duró abierto de nuevo, al final parece que teníamos razón los que advertíamos por tripadvisor y por aquí que no tenía nada que ver con el antiguo Jamse, así como todos los clientes habituales que dejaron de ir. Nos quedaremos con los buenos recuerdos, y la esperanza de que alguna vez lo coja alguien que quiera seguir la línea de las últimas décadas que tan buenos...

I have no idea why this restaurant isn't more popular, the food is absolutely amazing. I had the paella which was so flavourful and my wife had the grilled salmon which she said was one of the best pieces of salmon she's ever had. We finished with the Apple Pie (really a strudle) that I really couldn't recommended enough, it was delicious!
