This place has no clue of service. We waited for at least 5 minutes at the signage at entrance "wait to be seated" but no one showed up. Waiters did look at us, but left us. We then walked to a waiter for a table and were seated. The next 20 minutes no waiter showed up to take orders. Had to go inside to ask for a waiter and we finally got our drinks (wine not properly chilled), no menu for snacks (we knew lunch was finished and Sunday's no dinner). During the next 1.5 hrs no-one showed up anywhere close to our table to check up or take orders for new drinks. As I refuse to walk away without paying (which I actually should have done), I finally got the bill, INCLUDING 1,20 EUR for ICE CUBES for the unchilled wine!! I told them about the lack of service. Suddenly no one was able to speak English anymore. They even dared to say that I was impolite after my explanation of lack of service; that I was able to understand in Spanish. Read moreWe booked a beachfront table in person 2 weeks in advance. We were so looking forward to dining at this new restaurant from famous chef B. Ruiz. But what a disappointment!
We arrived on time, they had our reservation on file but said they could not sit us beachfront due to a “mistake”. We argued but they were inflexible. We ended being seated on the “terrasse” which looks more like a canteen with no ventilation and awful white lights.
We had to beg to get menus and they were simply printed on white stained paper with the sheets stapled together. Not much effort to make it presentable. Rude staff, very low service.
When we had to wait longer to get a drinks menu and no one seemed to care about us, we decided to leave and ended up dining at a much nicer seafront restaurant at the Dénia Marina where we felt more valued.
The chef and owner should urgently reconsider this pretentious approach, improve service and probably get rid of some of his employees. Being famous doesn’t suffice, service and quality need to follow as well. Very...

English: My gosh! Talk about great food, breathless location, wonderful wait staff and bar service - Escondido 's got it all! We've been here several times since it open in April, and it never disappoints. The rosemary chicken is about the best chicken dish ever, better than my grandmother's, which is the highest compliment one can give. The entrrecot, squid, tapas, tacos, goatcheese salad are a few dishes that hit about every part of your palette. The cocktails and wine are noteworthy... Juan Gabriel mixes the best seaside cocktails. He knows how to pour a drink that jits the spot, if you know what I mean. Plus, JuanGa is professional and cheerfully inviting. Likewise, the wait staff is hard working, very knowledgeable, speak different languages, and are pleasant and timely in their service. Christina and Geral are two waitresses that we've had that that have gone beyond expectation delivering excellent service. Escondido is cornered away, metaphorically speaking , in some sand dunes a couple miles up the Mediterranean Coast from Denia. You can literally hear the waves crashing, feel the halcyon wind on your face, amongst tiki lamps shining and Beach music blaring that makes you want to get up and dance.
