The lady who served us initially plus the coffee, croissants and Croque Monsieur were all lovely. Sadly I could not say the same about the French member of staff who snapped at my husband when he tried to get her attention to order a second coffee. Would totally understand if she had been serving another customer or preparing someone else's order but she wasn't. What she was doing was clearing down the counter of bread and cakes at 1.30pm obviously to make sure the place closed at 2pm. When she did come over she was surly and rude I have not seen such an ignorant waitress in a long time. Fuimos a desayunar hace poco y éramos 4 personas, entendemos que un fin de semana puedan ir más justos pero la experiencia fue desastrosa. Nada más entrar y sentarnos, dos nos levantamos para ver que tienen en la vitrina y pedir, a lo que la camarera muy nerviosa empieza a gritarnos que nos sentemos que solo nos va a tomar nota en la mesa, sorprendidos volvemos a la mesa y empieza a tomar nota de los cafés, y cuando va a pasar a la comida y explicando el tipo de panes que tienen, aparece otro compañero diciendo que nos tomara nota el, empiezan a discutir entre ellos y la chica se va. Volvemos a empezar con las bebidas al chico y preguntamos por los tipos de pan para las tostadas a lo que responde otra cosa totalmente distinta a lo que había dicho la chica inicialmente, pero intentamos cuadrarlo y se marcha. Al cabo de 5 min vuelve y dice que solo quedaba el pan que hemos seleccionado para dos tostadas y hacemos el cambio sin si quiera preguntar a cuáles y con que ingredientes (cada tostada llevaba toppings diferentes vamos que el pan ya tocaba a suertes) ya a regañadientes porque es la tercera vez que nos toman nota. Cuando empiezan a traer las tostadas (dos rebanadas pequeñas cuando en el otro local ponen baguette) tira el ticket encima de la mesa sin si quiera explicarnos que se paga en caja (importante esto a la hora de pagar).Terminamos y a la hora de pagar no especifican que hay dos colas de pagar una para quien ha desayunado ahí y otra para la zona de panadería, bien, nos hicieron hacer dos colas (fin de semana y el local a rebosar) para pagar la cuenta y ya cabreados dijimos que o nos traían el datáfono o nos íbamos de allí. I always stop by this cafe when I am in Alicante. Their berry muffins are simply amazing! I can't say the same about the staff. Today they didn't speak English to me, they answered in Spanish and when I asked if they had orange juice they said something in Spanish that I didn't understand, unfortunately. Apparently the girl just didn't want to make fresh juice. I didn't bother her and just went to another cafe. It's a shame how an employee can ruin your impression of the place.
