Firstly the food was exceptional. If you are looking for comida herreño or traditional fish then this is maybe not the spot. What we found was food with a twist, and some excellent dishes. Especially the tuna tataki and the Asian take on the dishes attempted and done very well! I have not put 5 stars because of the service.

We had two servers one was great to interact with the second was just awkward and petty, including on arrival we wanted to take a different table that the one offered but we were moved off our preferred table which was set for 4 rather than the one set for 3. Even though the restaurant was empty we could not take our preferred table and were given some excuse that it was because the tables were set and the place was going to fill up. We left 90 minutes later the only table in the room.

So please listen to and accommodate your customers and avoid imposing silly conditions or putting your organisational quirks over their comfort. As that nearly made me leave immediately.

Fuimos un grupo de varias personas con muchas ganas de probar este restaurante, pero la experiencia fue bastante agridulce. Al llegar, nos encontramos con el cocinero fumando en la puerta. Le preguntamos amablemente si el restaurante estaba abierto y su respuesta fue, con tono sarcástico y despectivo: “Yo qué sé, yo soy el cocinero, no el camarero… ¿o no me ves?”.

Nos sorprendió mucho su falta de educación y profesionalidad. Lo más grave fue que, tras acabar su cigarro, entró directamente a la cocina sin lavarse las manos y se puso a cortar queso, algo que vimos claramente desde nuestra mesa. Una actitud totalmente antihigiénica e inaceptable en un local de restauración.

Afortunadamente, el camarero fue todo lo contrario: atento, amable y muy profesional durante toda la noche. Además, la comida estaba realmente buena: sabrosa, bien elaborada y presentada con esmero.

Sin embargo, la actitud del cocinero no mejoró en ningún momento. Cada vez que pedíamos más limón, lo traía con evidente desgana y en cantidades mínimas, como si le molestara atendernos. Y cuando solicitamos una tabla de quesos, nos sirvió el extremo del queso con la cáscara incluida, lo cual no es apropiado ni profesional.

Lo más llamativo fue que, al comentar lo ocurrido con algunos vecinos del pueblo, nos confirmaron que no era un caso aislado. Varias personas coincidieron en que ese cocinero ya ha tenido comportamientos similares en otras ocasiones y que su actitud deja mucho que desear.

Es una verdadera lástima, porque el restaurante tiene potencial, buena comida y un camarero que sí merece reconocimiento. Pero el trato al cliente empieza desde la puerta, y una actitud como la del cocinero puede echar por tierra toda la experiencia. Por nuestra parte, no tenemos intención de volver Y no lo recomendaremos a nuestras amistades mientras permanezca este cocinero...

This restaurant is the reason to come to eat at La Restinga in El Hierro. Locally sourced fresh fish is prepared in the most delicious way. Peruvian and Japanese influences abound, while never forgetting the local traditions.
