Restaurante Casa Mara — Restaurant in El Tanque

I wasn’t sure whether to leave this review, especially because our server was really nice, but I felt it was important to share our experience since the other reviews don't reflect ours at all.

First off, the setting is absolutely beautiful. The view of the sunset over the sea is stunning, and the woman behind the bar who served us was genuinely lovely.

There were only three other tables there, which surprised us we expected a full house based on what we’d read.

But then, the food was shockingly bad. We were so excited to eat here after reading the reviews, but it ended up being one of the worst meals out we've ever had. Here’s what we got (prices from memory):

5€ for a bowl of plain, cheap lettuce

18€ for a small platter of cold cuts and cheese

12€ for a watery, tasteless carbonara

14€ for mushroom ravioli in a tomato sauce both of which looked and tasted straight out of the supermarket

5€ for a stale mini baguette with a bit of oil and garlic

The wine was extremely poor too - we weren’t able to get a bottle, which made us think it might’ve been from a carton, and we paid 8€ for 1L I believe.

We honestly thought we were in for a special evening... The views and the sunset are really something. But the food really let it down, and it left us feeling frustrated and disappointed.

I really hope the owners read this and take it as honest feedback. The location is amazing, and with better food, it could easily become the kind of place that is constantly packed for all the right reasons.

A pleasant Italian restaurant with a beautiful view of Garachico! The gem of the restaurant is not only the food, but also the lady who serves.
