🏴 The Plaza de las Flores is located in a beautiful spot — unfortunately, that’s the only positive thing I can say. In the square, there was a baby seagull by the fountain. We alerted the staff that it was going to die, but (excuse my words) not a single waiter gave a damn. I believe that if you operate a business right in the middle of a public square, then the birds living there should be your responsibility, just like the flowers.
Moving on: out of two waiters, not one of them spoke English. I won’t comment on the food, but they couldn’t even make a simple café latte — even though they had cold milk, coffee, and ice. They told us they didn’t have it, so we asked for the ingredients separately and said we’d mix it ourselves at the table. What did they bring? A cappuccino. :(
On the third try, they brought the milk and the coffee (the ice we already had with our water), but no glass to mix them in. On the fourth try, we finally got everything.
And finally, the savior: the manager came out in a blue shirt. We told him about the baby seagull that was about to die. He understood everything. He brought water for the poor bird, walking straight through the flower garden, and brought us an iced coffee as a kind gesture. One gold star for the manager! As for the other waiters — besides learning English — I’d strongly recommend they pick up their boss’s kindness and helpful attitude.

Overall it’s just about a hit.
Prepared to give them the benefit of the doubt, given that it was their first day open since they did some renovations.
On the positive side, the seafood pancake and confit cod were outstanding! The Aperol spritz was well balanced but I didn’t like the fresh ginger in the gin and tonic.
On the negative side
The sangria was stuffed full of tinned fruit but overall ok. The tequila sunrise was unbalanced too much grenadine and not enough orange juice. The partridge pâté was ok. Sadly the service was very sporadic. It would be nice to get all the drinks at the same time (we were a table of 3 so it shouldn’t have been too challenging.
Ditto for the food. If we had ordered main courses - we would have been really disappointed with the delay between dishes of the same order.
The oxtail tacos were the big disappointment, lacking in flavour (other than jalapeño) and quite doughy - more wraps than tacos.
However the salmon tartare didn’t arrive - and we gave up after 35 minutes of waiting.
They need to sort their service out and maybe tweak the menu a bit.
I will try again next time we are in Estepona, and hope that things have improved.
Oh and it seems the falafel are permanently off the menu since I read another review which mentioned there...
Read moreAfter tasting other ice cream shops, we decided to try the one closer to the place we were staying, this one was “Avocado”, our kids loved to have the ice to take away and enjoy it on the beach. Our fish experience was great, the lady who served us was really nice and we saw her giving a lady in front of us a mix of two ice cream flavours, I asked what was that size and she said small, so we asked for one each and we were not disappointed, they were delicious!. Today at 10 AM my kids couldn’t wait for the shop to open, at 10:00 was opening so we went for a walk to the beach and came back, ww we’re waiting for about 10 minutes until someone came to us (I know they were pretty busy serving breakfast) so we understood, when the lady started serving us, I just ordered a small ice cream with two flavours and she said “THAT IS IMPOSSIBLE!”, but…. We couldn’t understand, if it is a good sized ice cream why couldn’t she just put a little of both flavours like the lady the day before? We wanted all to have one but at the end we just bought the one for our son. I think that sometimes it’s easy to keep customers happy and there is nothing “impossible” as long as we don’t ask for something for free. Not sure if I will come back as there are many...
