First, I'll start with it took us three tries before we could finally eat here. Don't trust the times posted. They close the kitchen whenever they feel like it. I have a friend visiting from out of town, she's vegan, and this place apparently has high reviews on some vegan websites. So she really wanted to try it. I am not vegan. I'll eat almost anything.
I've eaten here twice now. Once for Saturday morning brunch and once for dinner. My brunch was perfect but dinner was not.
I've lived in Estepona for a couple months now and overall I haven't been too impressed with the food. This was probably one of the best meals I've had so far. The lamb was pretty decent. I do love a good lamb dish and the pomegranate really added a nice accent. The eggs benedict were good although the eggs were a little overcooked. It's too bad the service didn't match the food my first time there, for dinner.
I was exhausted after working a long day then trying to be entertaining for my visiting guest but all I could really think about was getting home and in bed. We asked for the check, he brought it to us quickly, but then just never came back. He left us there for more than twenty minutes. I was ready to walk out without paying. We finally called out to him to get his attention to come over so we could pay and go home.
If the service were better and I knew the kitchen was going to be open I would probably go back, especially since I noticed they serve brunch, but it's not worth the hassle to me when there are so many other places to try.
I will go back again for brunch. I love...

A pretty restaurant in a pretty square
This pretty restaurant with flowers painted on the outside walls is in the Plaza Dr Arce, the little triangular-shaped square with a statue and fountain in the middle, between the Plaza de las Flores and the Calle Terraza.
Traffic-free, you sit out here near the orange trees (gorgeous scent of orange blossom in spring!) and listen to the fountain as you sip your wine and wait for your food.
But first you must sit down at the right table . . .
There are in fact 4 different eating places in this square, and their tables are all spread out. What you need to do is look at the place you are going to eat.
Let's say Madubar Fusion. OK, look at the table nearest to its door. What colour is the table? What are the chairs like? How about the sunshade?
Having taken careful note of all this, you then select the table whose position you prefer, ensuring that it's from the right eating place. otherwise you may end up having to eat a Knickerbocker Glory instead of a lovely plate of Cous-Cous!
Because at this restaurant fusion means fusing tastes across the straits of Gibraltar. you get fish, lovely grilled fish, or rice and fish pasta dishes. And also some days - thursdays in general - you get Moroccan specialities.
You'll love it all,...
Read moreDuring our recent stay in Estepona, I had read about MaduBar and thought it would be a great place to dine - and it didn't disappoint, during the two times we dined there. Ideally situated in the old town, MaduBar has a very inviting atmosphere from the moment you see it. With ample outside seating and a very charming inside dining area, this family-run restaurant just attracts you to it. The awesome, professional and friendly service by Lázaro and his team, made it even more special. I very much appreciated learning a few Andalucian words and phrases from Lázaro, who kindly became a teacher as well as a camarero🤗. And the food and drink? Yes, a very flavoursome and well presented selection of starters, mains and desserts and great vino. We did try to visit again before we left, but the restaurant was closed on that Sunday. During our visit to Estepona, we dined in several restaurants- MaduBar was by far the best. Hopefully, we will visit Estepona again - if we do, MaduBar will...
