If I'd wanted fast food I'd have gone to the Burger King nearby. I advise solo, or walk-in guests, should check with staff as to the true availability of seating, before settling down to a meal... and (perhaps) even avoid dining here solo.
I've had 2 lovely meals here. So, the food I highly recommend. I've enjoyed the wine too. As far as the dining experience goes: Both times I was rushed to the bill.
The 1st time I thought it was because I'd arrived late. Fair enough! The staff are friendly upon entry and the atmosphere buzzes. I ate up and left. The 2nd time, I'd arrived much earlier - sans reservation again, mind you. I'd sought them out among the many other spots, having loved their pizza on my prior visit. As the stages of my dining experience progressed on this occassion, I had the distinct feeling my table was "being turned" as I neared the end of my pizza. Of course, I ordered coffee.
All through my coffee the staff were hovering. ...Removing sundries from the table, asking excessively often if I wanted anything else... until I caved and asked for the bill (which was greeted with a flourish of relief by the waiter). I paid while I was still busy drinking my coffee (over which time it had cooled to being cold).
As I swallowed the last sip of my coffee the waiter came to request that I vacate the table "because it was reserved (as I understood, it between their broken English and my non-existent Spanish)". I said I'd just paid €30 for my meal (tip included), that I'd not been informed of a time-limit, and would be on my way shortly. The waiter vocalised a frustrated sigh and stormed off toward front-of-house (both of us were clearly lost-in-translation). A moment later, what I think was the Maitre D' arrived at my table, asking me to vacate the table quite assertively. I pointed out again that I'd not agreed to a time-limit, just paid €30, and was unhappy with being rushed (there was no queue of people, and other outside tables stood open). He started arguing with me, vocally. Defensively. Confrontationally. Infront of the other clientele. It was incredibly rude, dismissive, humiliating, and untoward. He talked through me and barged off.
An apology for the misunderstanding would have sufficed. I'm a reasonable human being & grateful customer.
The arrogance I was served up here was beyond any I've experienced prior. I'll not return to this restaurant, good food aside.
I'd advise guests check with staff as to the true availability of seating and (perhaps) avoid...
Read moreWe've just had a very poor experience here. Plenty of front of house staff is a positive. However we were shown to our table nicely enough. After that it was mediocre. We ordered starter and main. The prawn avocado salad was ok and the pizza was ok. The garlic mozzarella bread came with burnt edges and overcooked mozzarella, not much garlic taste whatsoever. The penne pasta Sicilian tomato dish was on the cusp of undercooked. We had to ask for parmesan cheese, and no black pepper was offered on the main dishes. To rub salt in our wounds the couple on the next table had a great welcome from the proprietor (obviously they knew him), and behind their backs I could see him gesticulate to the same staff member we had ,to give them good service! They were offered, verbally, bread and oils straight away (lacking in our service and not on the menu), and obviously their attention was priority from then on. We only went there as it appeared busy and popular the night before, but in the end it was very average and disappointing experience and we can not recommend. The proprietor to gesture better service to friends is unnecessary in normal excellent restaurants, but he obviously felt it...
Read moreReally disappointed the service was horrific, we have eaten here many times but the bad service ruined our night would not return. Manager and most staff really couldn’t have cared less. Avoid Firstly we booked for 6 adults and 1 baby so high chair was ordered when we booked and assured it would be available, when we arrived we were told there was no high chair available at all however they found a booster seat which we were fine with. Then when we ordered, one of our starters got forgotten about completely which the lady seemed very uninterested when we asked about it. On the mains the steak that was ordered rare turned up well done and the vegetables were missing, again we were told this would be rectified but nothing was done. Enough was enough so we asked for the bill, we were overcharged for an extra main course which we didn’t order, this was eventually taken off. The manager at the end tried to argue about a high chair, it was nothing to do with just that the whole night was ruined by poor, poor service. We have been to this place many times but will never return. Avoid unless you like poor service and average...
