Today we visited this location for breakfast and drinks. Due to a festival they seemed pretty busy. Decent service turned into an uncomfortable situation when the owner singled out my wife to not use the restroom or to buy something to use the restroom. The fool was so unaware of his customer base as he said this to the 1 person of color, out of 8, in line. And yes 4 of our party had drinks and food. He's lucky we already paid. If you have an ounce of melanin in you (for him color) please avoid this place. If you care do the same. Ignorant people need to learn or at least feel it in their pocket!!! Otherwise the rest of the staff was nice. Plenty of other places to spend your $$!!!!
This is the worst review I've ever given!!!!
His response says it all. No "I'm sorry if you felt that way". Just defense. I, had no issues nor did the 6 people around me using the restroom. I can pass as someone from Spain and so did those around me. Live and learn. I won't be back and nor should others who care. Best advice, understand who you serve and watch your obvious bias!!!!
Or, keep defending your...
Read moreToday, my husband, a group of friends, and I ordered tea, coffee and toast at Cafe La Vida. After we paid but before leaving, several of us went to use the restrooms. There was only one coed restroom, and the line was fairly long. While waiting, I was shocked when the owner- a short bald man with an aggressive attitude - singled me out, loudly demanding that I purchase something before using the bathroom. I was the only visibly identifiable person of color in our group and in the restroom line.
After recovering from the shock of being confronted so publicly and rudely, I informed him that I had indeed purchased a drink. He continued to say something incoherent before walking away. The experience was upsetting and humiliating.
I am sorry we chose to support this business. I don't expect much accountability from them, but if you are a person of color-or someone who cares about how people of color are treated- I urge you to think twice before patronizing this cafe. It's time to stand against ignorance where it hits hardest: the...
Read moreLast week, we decided to have some food and drinks on the terrace. An older bald staff member took our order. When we tried to order drinks first, he reacted quite aggressively, insisting we had to order food too. Well, excuse me. Even worse, a family with two small children was kicked out for only wanting drinks.
We received two warm canned drinks, and just a few minutes later, our food arrived. We enjoy fast service, but roasted pork ready in under 4 minutes? It felt like it was microwaved. Maybe that’s normal in Denmark, so I am not able to judge about the food.
Overall, we didn’t feel welcome at all. The owner should be glad anyone even comes by. This is definitely not the Spanish standard – you should be ashamed of yourself. We will...
