Madre Mía Fuengirola — Restaurant in Fuengirola

I have mixed feelings about this restaurant.

Initially we received very good service, we were attended to by a very friendly waitress.

We had reserved a table for 6 people, and ordered 1 platter for 2 people, and 2 platters for 3 people.

When the food arrived, we were very confused about which were for 2 people and which were for 3 people - they were completely identical.

We first asked the waiter which platters were which, and were told that they all were for 2 people.

Then, another waiter was summoned (the one we ordered from) and she looked at it for 2 minutes, to tell us that everything was in order, and that we could tell by the lamb chops (on the whole table there was one lamb chop, and there should have been 6). Then the table next to us ordered the same 3 person platter, and received a literal mountain of food.

When we pointed that out to the waiter, we were told that we had already eaten it so there was nothing to be done (even though we also asked in the beginning of the meal?) and we could get a 10% discount. A 10% discount when the 3 person platter was 50 euros and the 2 person platter was 30 euros. So for what we received, we paid 45 euros but still only recieved food for 2 people.

After that, the waiters started avoiding us, and even though there was only 5 active tables in the entire restaurant, it took us 20 minutes to be allowed to pay.

But, greed from the owner and incompetence from the staff aside, the food tasted great. Just a shame that there...

By far the best bar/restaurant in fuengirola. Unlike many other places this restaurant has the most amazing people and food. I haven’t found this everywhere in fuengirlas. If the food is nice the people are horrible. If the people are nice the food is horrible. Here at madre Mia they have amazing food and amazing staff. They have something for everyone to eat as well. The draft beer is a top quality beer unlike most places here who serve watered down beer to the masses. It’s got a chilled vibe in the day but at night it’s bustling with families couples and groups of adults. We have come back here a few times when I have needed to work in peace from my phone: it’s been a Perfect solution on all ocations. I hope to have more time here. The picture is after a load of food and drink. Didn’t have time to take it before as it’s work station day. My son doesn’t settle well anywhere as he is autistic. I find here he is peaceful even if it means he’s under the table. No one judges. Also for a predominantly meat restaurant the pizza is the best we’ve had here. It’s on a sweet focaccia bread unlike the rest that’s round and flat. Can’t fault his place....

If you love salt – this is the place to be.

We went to the restaurant because of good revenues. That was a mistake. We ordered a mixed grill to share. Black pudding, Chorizo, chicken and Argentinian beef couldn’t go wrong….. – we were wrong.

That the Argentinian beef was very tough would prove to be the least of our problems. I started on the Chorizo, realizing that it was very salty. Bad luck, I thought. Then the same happened with both black pudding, chicken, beef, and the fries. At first, we thought it would be possible to eat anyway, but halfway through, we gave up. It was uneatable. When telling the waiter, we were asked if would like to order something else. At that point, we were not interested in trying something else. We continued with our wine for a while, but then decided to leave. When being served food that turns out to be impossible to eat (probably not healthy for your kidneys either), we would think that some kind of discount would be given. We thought wrong.
