We've been in Fuengirola nearly a week now,and have stumbled across lots of decent places to eat and drink - some from TripAdvisor recommendations and some not. We pretty much used el Rio as a banker, we'd hit a few other bars and restaurants, and if we found nothing as good we'd head back for a few drinks and tapas on the way to our apartment.
Tonight we watched the England vs Italy game in El Rio, my girlfriend is not a massive football fan and the place was relatively quiet. At half time she went outside for a cigarette, and being the dedicated boyfriend that I am - I gave her a few minutes then left our drinks at the bar and went outside to check that she was Ok. She was.
As I went back into the bar, I saw a man drinking from both our glasses in turn - I had a word with what I assumed was a desperate tramp, and informed him those drinks were spoken for - in a not so polite manner.
What I had assumed was a desperate tramp then made his way behind the bar and began to serve drinks to the few other people in the bar, offering an apology as he did so (he thought the drinks were left untended).
As I said earlier, this was not our first visit, and prior to this I had assumed the service was good, but this was the first time I had left a drink at the bar (for no more than a minute) and to find a member of bar staff helping himself was hugely disappointing. We left our drinks and made our way elsewhere.
We still have a week left of our holiday, we will definitely not be visiting...
Read moreService was sufficient, our own waiteOrdered thite wine of the house first. It was decent and came with some nice green olives. Next they brought us some bread, which was some generic, dry, white bread from a store. The bread came with this small plastic portion package of butter, which of course wasn’t very good. Olive oil, salt & pepper would have made a huge difference.
The food was absolutely terrible. We were the first ones there, little bit before the kitchen was opened. We ordered the swordfish. We got the food pretty fast. The fish was poorly prepared. It was clearly overcooked, on a too cold pan. The result was this grey, dry, fish plank swimming in oil. Barely any salt or other seasoning as well. Came with some cream potatoes, that were soggy and flavorless. On the side there was a split plate of sides; cabbage, which I’m guessing was supposed to be grilled, steamed carrot and mushrooms, which were unseasoned, soggy and cold.
I told the waiter about the food, he was apologetic. They took about 6€ off my bill, but not from my company’s, because he didn’t say anything, although he thought the same. Also, they billed us for the bread, which we never ordered. Do...
Read moreI could not say enough about this fabulous restaurant. I had a meal there on the 19th September 2018 and it was one of the best meals I have ever eaten. The food was fabulous, a warm goats cheese salad to start and the best beef casserole I have ever eaten as a main course and a lemon cheese cake as dessert. A party of 4 and everyone was delighted with the food we were given. Clean plates all around. If you are in Los Boliches and want a great dinner and value for money than this place is a must. I would like to thank the staff and owners for what was simply put one of the most enjoyable meals I have ever eaten. If you decide you want to eat here make sure you book as they were and will be...
