Sabor a Perú — Restaurant in Fuengirola

We walked by and stopped at Sabor de Peru to check the menu. Juanita, the owner and chef, was happy to tell us about the food she’s serving. We decided to give it a try the next day and boy, it didn’t disappoint.

Juanita cooks with love and is proud to offer a taste of one of the best rated cuisines in the world. It is not the usual fancy Peruvian food you get nowadays in many restaurants. It is honest to goodness great down to earth Peruvian home cooking. The yuca frita was crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, just as it should be. The ceviche was marinated to perfection and the leche the tigre balanced hot and sour masterfully. The ají de gallina was true Peruvian home cooking as good as it gets. Since everything was so tasty, we ordered a serving of anticuchos as well. These were among the best anticuchos I ever had: soft, moist, and seasoned to perfection. Service by Aaron was lovely and attentive.

I ordered ceviche and the fish was rubbery and chewy , it was very difficult to swallow. I called the waiter and I was trying to explain in a polite way about the fish, when the waiter said ‘the fish is chewy’. Then he called the owner and instead to listen his customers, he questioned me if I have eaten ceviche before. I told him that the fish is not properly cook or he needs to use a different fish. I asked to change my food for pollo a la brasa. Other disappointing dish, chicken was fried and not done as rotisserie. I asked for the bill and the owner charged me for the ceviche that was awful and I didn’t eat it. The owner was rude and told me that his ceviche was fine and it was me who did not like it and therefore I had to pay . With all honesty, this place does not offered authentic Peruvian food. Plus It’s expensive . I highly do not recommend anyone to go there. La peor experiencia en un restaurant. Pedimos pescado pero nos dijeron que no había, entonces preguntamos sobre los platos disponibles porque lo que íbamos pidiendo no había nada, poniendo excusas de que no había llegado la mercadería. Nos traen pollo empanado (milanesa) recalentado de varios días, seco por dentro de un color amarronado fuerte y patatas de las congeladas, daba miedo probar el pollo. También nos trajeron chicharrón, medio porción porque solo quedaba eso, tampoco estaba hecho en el día, estaba reseco, incomible. Cuando llamamos a la camarera para decirle nos discutió que eran platos recién hechos, aunque admitió que no tenían mercadería ese día. Consultó con el dueño, y al volver muy groseramente nos dijo que comamos que no nos iba a cobrar. Por supuesto el problema no era que no podíamos pagar, sino que la comida era incomible. Le dijimos que nos íbamos y nos cobraron las dos bebidas. Comemos todos los días por la zona porque trabajamos allí, nos conocen y no somos personas complicadas. Por lo que podemos decir que no entendemos como pueden tener abierto un local en estas condiciones, creo que no resistiría una inspección, la comida roza lo insalubre. A...
