We went with a friend for a birthday celebration and we loved it! The starter of ventresco of tuna, roasted peppers and tomato delicious, it was accompanied by calamari which was tender and very tasty. The main dish was a longaniza sausage with boiled potato and red cabbage which was very good too. The sausage was very tasty and perfectly cooked. If I could be critical at all, I would say a spiced red cabbage with red wine and dauphinoise potato would have lifted this dish to stellar heights but that would be nitpicking.
The cheeseboard was outstanding with no less than 9(yes!!!) different cheeses! Cheese from Galicia and Asturias and Finland, Italy and France and they were (almost) all, very tasty. I am not very fond of Cabrales cheese, except when not matured. The specific cheese served was very mature and I did not like it very much(BUT it is personal taste and does not reflect on the quality and generosity of the dish served)
The owner is a wine buff and suggested a wine for each course and we loved both the reds we had with the starters and the mains. A granacha from Spain and if memory serves me right, a wine from the Douro region in Portugal which was exceptional.
We had a dessert wine with the cheese which was a sherry but it was too dry for my liking(again more to do with personal taste) I asked for an alternative and the Pedro Ximenez sherry offered instead, was excellent.
All in all, a great experience which we will definitely repeat!
Thanks to the whole team for a...
