La Cuchara de Carmela — Restaurant in Granada

Arriving in Granada for an overnight stay to celebrate our wedding anniversary, we took a walk around the city and decided to stop for some lunch. The exterior of La Cuchara looked like the right place, popular but not too crowded, plenty of greenery around, tables nicely laid out and fine water spays from above in action. My wife ordered eggs and chorizo with chips, a dish she discovered in the north of Spain which had become a favourite. When her food arrived, the meat was shredded jamon, the wrong order. I had ordered battered cod; when it arrived, it was plain to see that the batter was burnt on the outside but was still mushy on the inside......I tried it but it tasted disgusting so I could only eat the soggy fish on the inside. I pointed this out to the waiter who said that he was sorry and would inform the chef but nothing came of it, certainly not a reduction of the bill to compensate. Although the portions were generous, we were very disappointed and, although the location and ambience were fine, we would not recommend or go there again.......the worst battered cod of many that I have ever...

Seasoned to the point. Large portions. Great atmosphere. La Cuchina de Carmela restaurant is a unique point on the map of Granada. We recommend it to everyone 👍💪 Ps. 9 amigos fuimos a cenar el pasado día 6 de septiembre. No había sitio, pero esperamos un rato y nos acomodaron correctamente en la terraza. No se si es que dentro del comedor no se podía estar o que en estas fechas sólo se habilita la terraza.

Pedimos unos platos para compartir y, luego, cada uno un plato individual. Uno de los comensales pidió el "Majaillo con espinacas", plato recomendado.

El "Majaillo" estaba "pasaillo". Tenía un sabor de avinagrado y dejaba un gusto desagradable. Indicación de que el plato no era del día, aunque el precio así lo sugería, y que se había conservado de forma irregular.

Al hacerlo saber, no hubo ningún problema. Se nos requirió otro plato para tomar, en sustitución de este "majaillo". Se pidieron "pochas" en sustitución y continuamos con nuestra cena.

Hay que decir que el servicio, en todo momento fué muy amable y atento.

La sorpresa fué que al pedir la cuenta, el restaurante no tuvo el detalle, en nuestra consideración, de invitanos a algo... no se, de invitar al afectado a las "pochas", de poner un chupito, de emplazarnos a otro dia a probar el "majaillo"... todo paso por caja. Eso sí, en la cuenta aparecía el "majaillo" en vez de las "pochas", por lo que nos ahorramos 1,50 euros, pero parecía de cachondeo porque nos habían cobrado un plato en malas condiciones, indigesto. Hubiera sido mejor que nos hubieran cobrado las "pochas".

Fué un detalle de peseterismo crónico. Y por otro lado, de que los platos no...
