The venue, service and wine are great but the food is overpriced and pretty abismal.
I ordered the pulpo (octopus) which came in a weird gooey, grey, CHEESE sauce... AND IT WAS MICROWAVED. We were the only ones there and I heard it ping in the kitchen shortly before arriving. It was only luke warm at the bottom so I asked for them to heat it and in 2 minutes I heard the microwave ping again, shortly before bringing it back out (the bowl itself was piping and the food was now completely dry and bland).
It was about €21 and was in no way was it any sort of premium dish that you’d expect with that sort of price tag.
My partner ordered the carpaccio, which had no sort of flavouring, just plain rocket and a few Parmesan shavings. We had to ask for salt pepper oil and chilli and season it ourselves.
We were pretty sad to part with that sort of cash for such low quality, bland, weird and overpriced dishes.
I’m only giving this two stars because the wine was good and the waiters...
Read moreWe had a really bad and tense time in this bar just due to the rudeness and despotic attitude of the waiter (an Italian guy; does not matter the nationality, its just to describe). You just can't treat customers this way. It was not us only: everyone who entered were "welcomed" with prepotency. AVOID: there are many other bars around to enjoy. (To the reply received): I would gladly try to be in your bar again, since the place you have chosen is beautiful, but I suppose I should know that either that manager has left or has radically changed his professional approach. And that seems doubtful to me as it would only happen if he had understood from the root that hospitality is above almost everything in a person in charge of receiving people in bars and restaurants. And that of course the anxiety and need to give orders have to disappear from his...
Read moreThe location is unbeatable in an old building right on the Darro. We sat outside on the "terrace", with wine barrels instead of tables - a nice touch if not very convenient. It is more of a wine bar than a restaurant, and their menu is quite peculiar, many attempts for tapas with a twist, with many dishes based on canned or preserved fish which was not what we were looking for. The food we ordered was kind of a hit and miss. Some dishes were excellent (best salemorejo we had in Spain). some interesting (millefeuille of mango and goat cheese) and some disappointing (tomato salad with tuna fish coming out of a tin). Service was a bit hectic since the place was packed. Overall, if you're looking for a wine bar with some basic food, this is a good choice. If you're looking for a more serious restaurant, perhaps...
