UPDATED REVIEW: After our 2nd time trying Maharaja, I’m happy to say that the experience was much better. The very kind server explained to me that the food they make here is “European style” Indian food, catering to a palate that is more sweet, less spicy. He explained that if I wanted Indian spices, I should order the food “desi style.” So I ordered the same dish as the first time, saag paneer but “desi style”, and while it was still a bit sweet and could have been spicier, it definitely had a more authentic Indian flavor. The paneer had a spongy texture that I’ve never had with real paneer before, but the flavor was good. At least it wasn’t cream cheese like they do at other Indian restaurants in Spain! I’d give this particular dish 4 stars. However, our appetizer (veg combinado) and my partner’s dish (garlic & cheese chicken tikka) were really very good, and the manager comped my meal due to our previous experience, so overall I think it deserves 5 stars.
November 18, 2022: I’m sorry to say I was disappointed with my meal. I love Indian food and I was super excited about trying this new restaurant. However, the saag paneer was very sweet. So sweet it tasted like a dessert made with spinach (yuck!). The two chutneys were also overly sweet. I’ve honestly never had such sugary Indian food in my life. I would have given the saag paneer one star but we also ordered the vegetable combo (entrada), which was very good, and garlic naan. Also, my partner liked his chicken tandoori quite a bit. Therefore, I’m giving it 3 stars. I will probably give the restaurant another try and update this review if I have a better...

Read moreWe had a nice dinner at Maharaja Restaurante Indio while exploring Granada. The food was flavorful and well-prepared — the curries were rich and comforting, the daal was hearty, and the vegetables were perfectly spiced. The crispy papadums served at the start were a great touch and paired nicely with the chutneys.
The outdoor seating made for a pleasant dining experience, adding to the relaxed vibe of the evening. Portions were generous, and the service was attentive and friendly.
The only downside was that the mango lassi had gone sour, which was disappointing. Additionally, while the food was delicious overall, some dishes could have been served a bit hotter.
Still, if you’re looking for authentic Indian food in Granada, this is a solid choice with a warm and welcoming...
