Bar Ondarribi — Restaurant in Hondarribia/Fontarrabie

The best restaurant in town. We had three amazing meals at this establishment! The staff are AMAZING, the food is OUT OF THIS WORLD, the wine is INCREDIBLE. I cannot put into words how impressed we were with this place. All the food is locally sourced and cooked to perfection. I have eaten calamari all over the world and this is the best I have ever had. We came here attracted by the high rating in Google and the busy crowd, but it's been a big disappointment. We ordered shrimp a la plancha (very small), tortilla de patata (was rather a homlet than a tortilla), bacalhau dumplings (no trace of baccalhau) and most importantly iberico ham was clearly beyond due date. I am sure there must be dozens of better places within a 5 minute walk.

Update: after complaining with the waiter, the owner came to tell us aggressively that we are wrong and he has the best...

We tried numerous dishes and all were phenomenal. They served yummy local beer. The homemade croquetas de jamon had the best bechamel filling ever! The calamari was really fresh. The suggested day special was a baby artichoke dish which was so good, we ordered a second plate of it! The beef cheek was also tasty.

And then, the finale.. the curdled sheep's milk with honey. Yummm. Most unique desert with a little tangy flavor which was a light and refreshing. This place should be your number one spot for pintxos in...
