Flotante — Restaurant in Ibiza

Such a shame about El Flotante. I’ve been coming here for years, literally 15 years or more. It’s a great situation, Talamanca bay is beautiful and the restaurant is tight on the water. However, the food has to be the main event, and it wasn’t. The quality has gone down immensely and the price gone in the opposite direction.

For starters we had patatas bravas and croquetas, both of which were store bought and cheap. The sardines for which this place is known for were ok, can’t complain about that. For main course we ate Dorada, house salad and sepia. The dorada was ok but again opened and fried is a quick way to cook it. The sepia a bit under cooked and you can’t go wrong with salad. The dishes came when they were ready. Per head we paid €55, with soft drinks and beer. No wine and no deserts. This wasn’t a €165 meal. This is one of the problems with Ibiza. Restaurants & bars think they can markedly raise the price and not care about quality. Well they shouldn’t. They’ll lose customers. The place is located right by the water, which creates a nice atmosphere. However, the tables were dirty, and only after we asked did the waiter wipe ours. They didn’t think on their own that one menu might not be enough for four people — we had to ask for more. The food arrived cold to lukewarm at best and had to be reheated. The fish was just okay, the rice had zero flavor, and the “salad” — funny they even call it that — was just chopped-up, not-so-fresh vegetables with no dressing. Our order had two mistakes. The service staff didn’t speak a word of English and weren’t even friendly. Instead of focusing on the guests, they were chatting with each other, which probably also led to the mistakes. In top it’s just too pricey for the quality and the “service”. This place could have so much potential, but in many ways, it was a disappointment. The one star is basically just for the view — being by the water. I definitely can’t...

Honestly… super disappointed 😤 We came here expecting a good meal, especially for the prices they charge, but wow… what a letdown.

The food? Not worth the price at all. I ordered one of the most expensive dishes on the menu and it came with the saddest sides ever: a tiny handful of fries (barely filled the plate) and a “salad” that was just random chopped vegetables with zero dressing. It felt super lazy and low-effort.

My boyfriend ordered something specific, and they brought him a totally different dish. When we told the waiter, he refused to change it. He ended up eating it just because we were already tired of complaining… but trust me, it was not worth it.

The service? Rude and careless. The food? Overpriced and low quality. Wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone not even by accident 😬

The only thing you can rescue from all the place is the nice view, BUT THATS ALL.
