Rojo Tomate - Pizzeria Lajares — Restaurant in La Oliva

I literally had the greatest piza I have ever had in this restaurant. This includes Italy and yes naples.

We went here new years day. Everything was closed so we thought let's do casual pizza. Lots of Italians here so pizza will be decent.

I wasn't expecting what followed....

It started with my sons garlic bread. Simple enough however the simple things should be done well If you expect everything else to go well right? Garlic bread was perfect. Charred bits, seasoned to perfection and Aldenete just right.

My other son just had a margarita pizza which was delivered before our special. Straight away I tried the crust. Again.... aldente well seasoned and well baked.

Next came our Christmas special. I don't know how to explain it and I couldn't get clarification due to the language barrier. All you need to know is this was not only the greatest pizza (I'm still not sure it was pizza due to language haha)I have ever tasted but one of the most satisfying dishes ive ever eaten..(yes I've done all the fine dining). The cooking of the base which is critical and the ingredients and how they were aged and prepared were without doubt part of the magic here. I'm guessing the flour is flown in from naples and rested for a while? then the cheeses are sourced locally?

Who knows but these guys know exactly how to make a pizza.

If you go here be bold and ask for what the chef recommends. This guy knows what he's doing.

Service was absolutely first class as...

Don't go there when it's busy. Waiters appeared to be very busy, but then would avoid any kind of eye contact. Food took an age to come out. Some food was satisfactory, other dishes were just "meh". Waiting staff need some training or some more motivation /incentives. I have sieht a lot of time in the did works, and this reminded me of "German service " (never with a smile, and you are just a bother to them). Ended up spending over 110 minutes there, and decided to pay in cash at the till because the kids fell asleep and I didn't want to pay with card and wait extra.

Will try to visit again when it's less hectic to see if this was a one time thing,...

For a value night out, try this Pizzeria. The pizza is good, you can choose from a wide range of options to suit your taste. I always enjoy a beer to wash down the pizza, and the beer selection here is good also. There are lots of snugs to settle into, so you're able to enjoy a quiet spot to have your food. The service was great. We got a great welcome as we came through the door from the bar man. Our orders were taken after we sat down. Our drinks arrived before we had settled into our seats. The pizza arrived not long after...
