How disappointing 😔

On arrival at 1 o'clock today a nice gentleman let us see the menu so that I could convince my husband to have lunch at El Chibiski. I had read the rave reviews so was keen to try it.

The decor of the restaurant was lovely and there were lots of staff. Initially we were the only people there. A nice young man brought us our drinks. Then after we'd ordered, a couple arrived with two dogs - a greyhound and bulldog? We were shocked that they were invited to eat in the restaurant, just two meters from our table. The lady waitress then brought a water bowl for the dogs. She took more interest in them than us, and the three people (2 + 1) that followed after.

The food was tasty and my enchiladas were packed with chicken breast. The complimentary nachos and dips were nice too.

Sadly the service from the 3 remaining staff that were around the bar area was just ok. They didn't seem as though they wanted to be there. A real disappointment and nothing like the wonderful exemplary customer service that we've received everywhere else on our travels.

We decided to eat here because the reviews were good but we didn't have a nice time. On the door they have a sign that says they open at 12:30pm, we have a young child and wanted an early lunch. So we made a reservation in person for 1:30pm the next day. When we arrived we were told that they didn't open till 2pm they made no apology for their mistake in accepting the reservation or the incorrect sign, we asked if we should come back later but they said it was OK. We ordered nachos and the ones we got were fairly obviously reheated from the day before. I’d like to believe that I know and love Mexican food very deeply and that’s why we were initially apprehensive of trying it in a small town. SO glad we did! Blown away by the authentic deep delicious flavors!! We got the tacos al pastor (delicious and moist), tamale pollo in mole (my favorite thing in the meal), and enchiladas in mole. The mole is really really delicious here!! The michelada with Clamato was spicy and satisfying. The service is really nice and friendly, and the ambience is vibrant since they’re always full.
