Los Marangós Plaza de la Merced | Tapas y Comida Española — Restaurant in Málaga

I was a little disappointed as I had been travelling all morning and hadn’t had any breakfast yet. Checked into my hotel and went for a walk to find somewhere to have brunch. I was brand new to Malaga and didn’t know where to go. My hotel was near Plaza de la Merced and I liked the look of this place, although when I sat down they didn’t have anything “brunch-ish” on the menu.

It was fine though. The waiter was lovely and helpful (I practiced some Spanish and he practiced some English), the sun was shining plus it was good for people watching. It was a nice first place to sit, eat and digest the fact that I was really back in beautiful Spain!

I ordered un cafe con leche and a couple of small tapas. The garlic prawns were great but I wasn’t a huge fan of the pork stew. It’s difficult to know where to go and what to order when you’re somewhere...

We visited Los Marango's last night and had a table outside. We were made so welcome from the moment we arrived by a young lady who's name I sadly cannot recall - senior moment on my part, but dony worry, you'll recognise her from the constant smile, good humour and lovely manner. The food was as excellent as the service. We spent a week in Malaga and came to dine here 3 times. This is now our favourite place in Malaga. Place is nice and cosy, and service is very good. This is where I discovered empanadillas de carne and fell in love with them from the first bite. But that's just one of the tapas. Other dishes are very tasty as well, look and taste very homemade, which is nice. When it comes to service, waiters ask to leave a review by scanning a link. Not sure if it's supposed be a personal review for the waiter, because the link seems to throw directly to the reviews for the whole restaurant in general.
