Just left Casa Lola feeling infuriated. After arriving, you tell the waiter your name and wait in line until he calls. Bustling restaurant that clearly gathers the crowd. Got in, and then ordered with the waitress. Don’t know her name but there was only waitress as rest were male. We waited an hour to receive any of our order bar the drinks. We thought they must have forgotten as other guests were getting their food before us. We kindly asked this waitress and she looked surprised and headed off to the kitchen to check. Since that point, she did not come back, didn’t apologise and it actually felt as though she didn’t like us, even though we just inquired about our late order. After 10 mins, hey presto, the order turned up except for one dish. At that point we just thought we’d get the bill.

The waitress kept walking past us and did not look us in the eye! Anyways, we finally got her to process the bill and she asked her friend to come across. Naturally the last bit of tapas that we did not receive was on the bill. We kindly said that the food was perfect except we did not receive one item. The stroppy waitress decided to come over and argue with us that we did receive it, and the sauce was from that order. After back and forth, she just said “oh, ah” then got him to take the item off the bill. No apology or anything. We left feeling totally flabbergasted at the service we received when simply nothing was our fault! Don’t get me wrong the other team seemed friendly and the food was actually tasty. But be warned, do not allow that waitress to take your order as she is extremely unfriendly especially when SHE makes the mistake.

We’ll probably never go back while she is there quite frankly. Felt totally let down by that experience despite the food (when it turned up) being tasty. Nothing was knocked off the bill or even an apology for missing our order!

The joys of being a...

Waited about 40 minutes to get in, but seeing the reviews, figured it was worth it.

My name was called and we were led to our table and we weren’t even in our chairs yet when she asked 3 times what we wanted to drink. We asked her to give us a minute to think about it…and she didn’t come back. Waited about 20 minutes until I could wave down another server, who also didn’t give us the time of day. We compiled a “panic list” of tapas that we were familiar with for whenever a server eventually would show up and take our order. Eventually on the 3rd try, we flagged down a very nice server who got drinks to us right away and took our order.

We ordered way too much food, which is typical for us, but we also felt pressured to order quickly…definitely wished we’d had a server with some time to help give us some recommendations.

The “McLola” burgers are something we definitely could have left behind. The buns were too solid, so the meat patty just slid out of them and we didn’t bother with eating the buns. The meatballs, patatas bravas, croquettes, and piripis were very tasty. The shrimp skewer was ok…was expecting it to be garlicky, but it was served with olive oil and some type of sauce. Mostly ALL of the dishes that were coming out of the kitchen looked excellent, so I wish we’d made some different choices, but that’s obviously not the restaurant’s fault :) We appreciated that the server asked what type of croquettes we wanted, as my partner doesn’t eat seafood.

The restaurant is chaotic and loud, but overall I found it quite an experience and “organized chaos”. The menu...

Me and my girlfriend wanted to come here since the past reviews gave it a generally good image, something to be excited for. Once we were seated we started to see that it would be just the opposite as once we asked for the English menu our waiter basically switched off. Service was slow and the staff became inattentive; I wanted to order the chicharron then was told after ordering it that it was unavailable, which is understandable at first, however I then ordered pork belly. Our starters, drinks, and my girlfriends burger came around 15-20 minutes after ordering, which was good, however after waiting at least 30 minutes after ordering we asked where was my food, to find out that they hadn’t even put it in after all that time. They didn’t care. We also saw that the burger that my girlfriend ordered was very undercooked and raw; we told them it was raw in which they decided to microwave it for at least 5 minutes. They didn’t say sorry, they didn’t say anything, they didn’t even decide to put it back in the pan to cook a little more. From what I saw, if you didn’t speak Spanish, you were treated horribly; we saw British, American, and Dutch tourists have simultaneous, similar experiences; even though I am Portuguese, they didn’t not treat us as well because I didn’t speak Spanish. A place...
