We'd only been in the City for a matter of an hour and weren't really planning some lunch (I was personally eyeing up an ice cream), but as walking past La Tasquita, I caught a glimpse of one of the tortillas in the corner of my eye and my hunger miraculously peaked. We walked about 50 metres down the road, turned back and joined the queue for a table. To be perfectly honest, this place was clearly a popular choice with other eateries with empty seats, whilst this place was boasting a queue. It didn't take long for us to get a table, with the waitress even helping us find the right table for us outside. The menu is pretty extensive, but we only wanted a light bite as eating dinner only a few hours later, so had to restrain ourselves to just a few small plates. We opted for the tortilla brava (obviously) some padron peppers, patatas bravas and some of the sardines. Wowee. I am really struggling to figure out which of the dishes I like most (okay the padron peppers were just regular), but tortilla was light and perfectly cooked, the potatoes melt in the mouth, all drenched in a spicy tomato sauce with aioli. Yum! At this point we were a bit full, hoping the waitress didn't hear us asking for the sardines, but just as were thinking about mobilising, they arrived. Fortunately for us, that were absolutely glorious! This place is just really good. The atmosphere was nice, the food came in good time and was of really really good quality. And what more, the food came at a really reasonable €24 (a bottle of water and non-alcoholic beer to boot). Only really minor grumble was it obviously did take a while to get seated, and good 10 mins for our order to be taken. But we weren't in a rush, so made little impact. I find it hard to imagine we won't be joining the back of the queue again before we leave...

Exceptional Tapas at an Unbeatable Price! Our recent discovery of a tapas restaurant in Malaga was an absolute delight – a truly positive experience. From the moment we arrived, the service was excellent. The staff were attentive, friendly, and genuinely made us feel welcome, contributing significantly to the overall enjoyable atmosphere. But the real star of the show was the good quality food, surprisingly cheap for such a high standard. Every dish we ordered was a testament to fresh ingredients and skilled preparation. The pimientos de padrón were grilled to perfection, achieving that ideal balance of smoky flavor and tender texture. All the food were super tasty, offering a delicious burst of flavor in a small package. The patatas bravas were very tasty as well, with a perfectly crispy exterior and a flavorful sauce. The taco was perfect – so much so that my only regret was not ordering more! It was a standout dish that showcased a wonderful combination of textures and flavors. Even the salad was quite good and fresh, a welcome addition that complemented the richer tapas. The only minor hiccup in an otherwise flawless experience was a small mix-up with the drinks: I received a Cola Zero when I had asked for a regular sugared cola. However, this was a trivial detail that did nothing to detract from the overwhelmingly positive impression left by the fantastic food and service. This tapas bar is a definite must-visit in Malaga. If you're looking for delicious, high-quality tapas, excellent service, and incredible value, you absolutely cannot go wrong here!

VERY POOR imitation of Casa Lola! I’ve lived near Plaza Uncibay for nearly 4 years and have eaten at all the restaurants. This one just opened with a shockingly similar look and feel to Casa Lola. However, its a sad copy. Service wasn’t bad but the food is an absolute “timo” (Spanish for swindle). Everything we ate tasted like it was straight from a bottle or the freezer. The croquetas weren’t bad but definitely not made by them. The tortilla de patatas was without a doubt not freshly made and the rabo de toro had barely any meat and the sauce was way too sweet. The hot dog could have been good because the bread and flavor weren’t bad but they put barely any meat as well. A few tiny circles of sausage and thats it. The porra (salmorejo) was the worst I’ve had - definitely straight out of a bottle. Looks good at first but taste is way off. Ensaladilla Rusa - again, not freshly prepared. No flavor and poor texture. Overall, wouldn’t go back. Not going to pay restaurant prices for food I can buy at Mercadona. Not a bad spot to have a drink but go have food somewhere else (Casa Lola is next door). Edit: the owners have since responded making no attempt to stand by the quality of their food. They’re claiming that my review sounds like an ad. I can assure any readers that I have no connection to Casa Lola and am simply a Malaga resident giving my opinion. However, that said, the owners of La Tasquita must share my positive sentiments about Casa Lola to have opened a copy cat right next door 😆

I'm sorry to give a low rating, but our experience doesn't allow for another. It was a big disappointment. Maybe we should have left as soon as the waitress threw our menus away with an expressionless face without greeting us. Immediately after that, we noticed the dirty and sticky table. We still placed our order. The Sangrias we ordered arrived. In fact, it was water with a little wine added for color and two slices of lemon. The worst Sangria, after spending 20 days in Spain and with enough experience to be able to make comparisons. Then three of the main courses arrived. Absurd-looking and quite tasteless. After 30 minutes, I called the waitress and asked her what was going on with our fourth course. She was visibly surprised, but she managed to get away with saying that it took time to prepare. It was a dish that was ordered en masse and it was clear that it was prepared in a common kitchen container for all the guests of the establishment. After 5 minutes, another waiter brought it to us. At the same time, a line of people was winding out front, waiting for a table to become available. Maybe they, like us, were fooled by the unrealistically high rating of the place and the full tables. I wanted to tell them not to do it to themselves and to pass on, but I knew it would have no effect. A place like this relies on mass tourists. There is no attitude, warmth and individuality. Bad food for hungry stomachs... Finally, to top it off, after 20 minutes of waiting, I had to go look for a waiter to be able to pay the bill! Some kind of absurdity. They deserved to leave without paying them, but my upbringing does not allow me to behave this way. In conclusion, if you can, continue down the street and choose another place so that you don't ruin your day and...

Terrible! Do not come here! The waiter that worked indoor was so rude. Whenever me or my friend asked about a dish he would frown and just say the dish’s name as if it isn’t on the menu. I asked for a straw and after he left he started mocking me, repeating the word straw while trying to imitate my voice. He doesn’t want to explain the dishes and rushes us when picking what we wanted to eat. He was so angry the entire time and it was obvious he didn’t want to serve any customers at all. Oh and not only was the waiter so rude, even the place was unclean. My friend kept on spotting random bugs on the table and the wall had stains from God knows what. The rating is so high but it’s the biggest tourist trap we have ever seen… the ground was so dirty inside. The place is filthy, they only keep the outdoor area clean and keep the indoor area dirty so people come in and get tricked. How lazy of them. We ordered the prawn rolls which were too salty and cold, it was clear that they made them an hour before we ordered them. My friend doesn’t like ketchup so she asked the waiter if the fries had ketchup, and said there was tomato sauce, not ketchup (in a very, VERY angry manner) and said he’ll put the sauces on the side instead of on the fries, and my friend and I told him not to but he did anyway. The fries were nothing special, in fact they probably take less effort than making instant ramen when making the potatoes. One of the potatoes tasted rotten. The calamari with aioli was okay and was also served cold. Don’t waste your money and time in this restaurant. Even the lemon in my iced tea wasn’t fresh. Worst restaurant in...
