Found this little gem of a restaurant and was delighted with it from start to finish. Arrived as a party of 6 (2 children) without a reservation in the afternoon, and with a quick shuffling of tables to accommodate us, we were welcomed in. Complimentary bread and breadsticks arrived with a lovely olive oil. The restaurant has the appearance of being family run, is pleasantly decorated and is clean and bright. To start we ordered the Caprese and Ensalada Angelino to share, and they were both delicious. I particularly enjoyed the small pieces of apple and orange in the salad which gave the dish a nice twist and kick started the appetite started for the next course. Next we ordered Saltimbocca AllĂĄ Romana, Calamarata, Ricotta and Spinach Ravioli, Rigatoni Carbonara Style, and Bucatini Amatriciana for the children which was divided between them (there is no kid's menu). Everyone enjoyed their meal thoroughly, with one of our party commenting that the Ravioli was the best they ever had, while I can say that the Rigatoni Carbonara was the most delicious plate of pasta I have ever tasted. I could not recommend it more highly. I can't say for sure, but the pasta may well have been homemade. For dessert we had the Sicilian Cannoli which received broad approval from all at the table. Drinks ordered included still and sparkling water, a beer and an espresso and the bill came to âŹ134, which is amazing value. This is not a restaurant to go to if you are in a rush. Everything is done at a relaxed pace but is done very well which adds to the experience. Friendly staff, amazing food, lovely restaurant, very reasonably priced. You won't be...
Read moreI decided to reserve a table after reading the reviews for this restaurant. When we arrived, our table wasnât ready, but that was fine as we were seated where we originally requested. We were served our drinks, and when it came time to order, we decided to skip starters and go straight to the main dishes.
We ordered three pasta dishes, a lasagna and ravioli included. Unfortunately, the lasagna arrived cold, and the ravioli portion was very small only five pieces which wasnât very filling (âŹ17)(as shown in the pictures). At no point did the servers recommend starters or sides to accompany the ravioli dish, and no one checked on us throughout the meal. We understand that the ravioli portion was shown in the picture, but the real issue was the lack of suggestions, check-ups, or any apology for the underwhelming experience.
When we raised the issue about the ravioli, it seemed like they had dealt with this situation before. However, there was no real understanding or apology, instead, we were simply referred to the picture of the dish, with the suggestion that we should have considered the small portion ourselves. This response felt dismissive and didnât address our concerns.
We expected the ravioli to be more filling since it was listed on the main menu alongside the pasta dishes, which were filling and quite delicious. But there was no check ups on how our food is . Overall, the experience was quite...
Read moreThe food and the wine were good. Definitely not the most affordable restaurant.
Too bad they try to scam you. The servers put olives and bread on the table but donât tell you, you have to pay 2⏠PER PERSON for this. We didnât eat any of this.
When we asked for the bill, the olives and bread were charged to us. We alerted the waitress that we didnât eat any of this. She explained that it gets charged âbecause it was put on the table, regardless if you eat it or notâ (this was never said in advance). We then insisted to leave it of the bill since we didnât touch the olives or bread.
She then came back with an updated bill, which had the olives and the bread removed, but an extra service fee of 1,50⏠per person was added instead. When we alerted the waitress again that this was not correct, since this was never mentioned to us, nor was it mentioned on the menu. The waitress explained something vague about âher boss choosing to put it on the bill since it is a compensation for the work the waitress had to put the olives and the bread on the tableâ. Very weird and vague explanation. When we replied that it was unacceptable to charge extra fees without any notice, she answered that we âcould always write a review if we were not happyâ.
So one advice if you decide to eat here: eat the olives and the bread, because it gets...
