Waited about 40 minutes to get in, but seeing the reviews, figured it was worth it. My name was called and we were led to our table and we weren’t even in our chairs yet when she asked 3 times what we wanted to drink. We asked her to give us a minute to think about it…and she didn’t come back. Waited about 20 minutes until I could wave down another server, who also didn’t give us the time of day. We compiled a “panic list” of tapas that we were familiar with for whenever a server eventually would show up and take our order. Eventually on the 3rd try, we flagged down a very nice server who got drinks to us right away and took our order. We ordered way too much food, which is typical for us, but we also felt pressured to order quickly…definitely wished we’d had a server with some time to help give us some recommendations. The “McLola” burgers are something we definitely could have left behind. The buns were too solid, so the meat patty just slid out of them and we didn’t bother with eating the buns. The meatballs, patatas bravas, croquettes, and piripis were very tasty. The shrimp skewer was ok…was expecting it to be garlicky, but it was served with olive oil and some type of sauce. Mostly ALL of the dishes that were coming out of the kitchen looked excellent, so I wish we’d made some different choices, but that’s obviously not the restaurant’s fault :) We appreciated that the server asked what type of croquettes we wanted, as my partner doesn’t eat seafood. The restaurant is chaotic and loud, but overall I found it quite an experience and “organized chaos”. The menu is also huge!

The front desk at our hotel recommended this spot and I’m so glad he did. First off, there was a 15 min wait for dinner on a Thursday, and it took a while for them to take our order, but once the order was in, everything came out super fast. I got the Sangria which was so refreshing, and everything we ordered was great! The highlights were the Casalola Style Tomatoes – the green salt on it with olive oil was so simple but really good. The octopus is a must – it’s so tender and fresh, served with yellow potatoes. The Iberico acorn-fed ham was really good – oily and great taste. It was a bit too much for my husband, but I really enjoyed it and recommend. This place is packed with tourists, but I didn’t mind it at all – it obviously is so good that people from all over the world eat here. We also got 3 pinchos (toast/bread with toppings on top) here, and I would skip these and order other tapas, only cuz the bread is filling and honestly, I didn’t care for the bread. I wish I came here 1 more time during my stay in Malaga, but I guess I gotta come back!

I dropped by Casa Lola today! Had read great feedback online so thought I’d try it out. However I had a terrible experience. Being vegetarian I just ordered a small portion of patatas bravas, and a glass of tinto de verano. The tinto the verano was fresh, however the taste of the patatas bravas was simply awful.. 1. Hard 2. Cold seemed stale and microwaved 3. The odour smelt like pork or fish ! Just unbearable.. I raised it with their staff , initially they started explaining to me rather arrogantly that’s what the dish is supposed to be like, but later did get me a replacement which was warm, but the smell was equally bad so I didn’t eat them. I found other reviews as well on google that pointed the fish smell issue out! Not a great experience at all for a vegetarian!! And to add to the situation they charged me an extra 1.50 euros for a bread basket, which was literally tossed on my table without even asking me first as if it was complimentary and later charging me! Really unethical behaviour!! I did convince them to remove the charge but some of the staff were extremely rude !

Casa Lola is a staple restaurant that you should visit at least once when you are Málaga ( we went twice!). They have a big seating area inside and outside and this place gets packed. Once you are in the wait time for service is non existent as they will take your order and bring you your food in a very fast, professional and efficient maner I had their "Croquettes" which are filled with béchamel sauce that is so fluffy that melts in your mouth. Also their "Callos a la Madrileña" will revive you especially if you had one of those long night. I also tried their "Lamb Burger" that in our case was served with a piece of Lamb, not your tipical ground lamb burguer. The burger bread was made with cheese on top and was the best part of the burger. I really enjoyed having lunch at Casa Lola and will be going every time I visit Málaga. Be prepared to wait for your table if you arrive after 12:30pm when they open. After that will be definitely a wait period of up to 30 minutes, but every minute of the wait is totally worth it.

Tapas joint that is flocked by many. Serves excellent drinks and tapas. Be ready to line up on busy lunch and dinner times. Make sure to have your name on list before lining up. Food: All tapas we ordered seemed simple but packed quite a punch. Russian Salad and Seafood Salad were amazing and well put together. Shrimp and Salmon Bocadillo were reallt good. The Sangria and Tinto de Verano fantastic. Service: Service is slow owing to few staff and high influx of customers. You have to be patient from ordering, recieving food and asking for the bill. It is a constant quest for their attention. Otherwise they are very nice. Ambiance: Typical tapas ambiance. Bars and table seating. Old school decor. Value: Prices were reasonable for the quality of food and service. 2 - 4 Euros for tapas. 3 Euros for drinks. Casa Lola is a place you must make time to go to in Malaga. Bringing a little patience or coming on off hours will go a long way for authentic and affordable tapas.

So, it's January, just before 3 Kings, so I suspect they've been overworked and extremely tired. I've worked most of my life in service, and I know how difficult it can be. So, no poopooing on the servers. Other than that, I will be back in a couple of months, a much slower time, and I'm sure they will all be in a better mood. Food was medium, and we had several dishes shrimp pilpil was ok, not enough salt or garlic, The goat cheese salad was really tasty The mozzarella, tomatoes, and avo were very nice, Patatas Bravas was very tasty but could have used a bit more pimenton, Tabasco fixed it! Mushrooms with Jamon and shrimp, a very off combination, but was ok.. Maybe no Jamon next time, and the croquettes were nice. Like I said, servers were exhausted, and I suspect the kitchen was as well. So they deserve a second chance.
