I really enjoyed this place and it's worth seeking it out. A small "snug" with interesting set-up including some nice wood work and "nook and niche" tables, it's sort of bohemian and sexy all at once. Cool lighting and atmospheric jazz album trim around bar edge. The staff was really friendly, accomodating and professional. My first bartender -- who reminded me of a young Gerard Depardieu -- was knowledgeable and made a pretty solid Sazerac. Next he suggested a very good peaty scotch I'd never had, Talisker from the Isle of Skye. Loved it. Next his colleague joined in when I said I wanted to contrast the peaty scotch with some Johnnie Walker Black which I'm familiar with. He suggested I try it "spicy" and after some clarification, I agreed. He added a special Licor infused with Chipotle chili. Damn if it wasn't a great mix -- I love trying something at the bartender's suggestion and both of these were winners. While I don't think live jazz is a very common here, they played vintage live performances that were incredible. I could have watched it for hours. Mainly early 60s stuff with Monk, Mingus and Coltrane with their respective great bands, key players, this was very compelling. I would have played it louder, to be honest, but it's meant to serve as background. Add in a cool location, not far off the Prado, in a old alley street and you definitely had a quasi - Beat 50s feel. Interesting, diverse and pretty good looking crowd too. The female staff members were charming and helpful too. I thought price were very fair too Thank you all -- I had very limited time in Madrid and glad I spent it with you.

Excelent staff. Their bartenders are all experienced and cool guys who are super social and are always trying to speak with you and give your their best cocktails. Honestly I loved the fact that they recommended every single drink I had the night I went there and they were all great. All of them I can easily score 9/10. The atmosphere is great as their playlists is mainly jazz based with a lot fo soft songs and nothing too crazy. Everything looks very elegant and refined. The place is not super big. I'd say it is kind of small sized but they have a few tables and a lot of space at the bar which allows everyone to visit it and enjoy their drinks. 100% recommend this place if you are coming to Madrid and there also are several other bars around the area where you can try other things if you still need to after their amazing drinks

This was probably the best bar we visited during our time in Madrid it just happened to be the first one we visited!! from the moment we arrived we that we knew we had arrived in a really special place. The bar staff were so friendly and when they discovered our interest in Gin they brought out a selection of Gins for us to try. The gins that we chose were extremely reasonably priced and we had great discussions with the staff over the course of the next 3 hours. Our only regret was that we were unable to return during the next couple of days. it is a must see place with a really really cool vibe and wonderful background jazz music!!

The Jazz Bar is one of my haunts when in Madrid. As its name implies, it’s general theme is built around Jazz Music. The walls of this tiny place are adorned with the faces of the jazz stars of yesteryear, while timeless jazz classics and often long forgotten gems from across the whole genre permeate this claustrophobic little Atochan enclave. The Jazz music also serves to compliment one of the best gin bars around. To the uninitiated, the place looks tired and well overdue for a refurb, but believe me, such an undertaking would ruin its character. Pop in around 10pm most weekdays. The pre-night clubbers and restaurant goers are now on their merry way and at last you can take in its wonderful charm. ———- Update: I mentioned previously that it would be in danger of losing its charm if they ever refurbed it. Visited it again recently, and theyve indeed given it a refresh. However, they have essentially maintained the original decor and just gave it a makeover, keeping it in line with how it has always looked. So...
