I never ever write reviews. Like, never. But this place deserves one, even if they don't need one. I don't know much about baking but I know what's a good baked product and what's not; most things out there are not even worth eating. Especially in Spain, when it comes to croissants, cakes, and 'American' type desserts in general, they just don't do it right. Not only does Motteau bakery have delicious desserts and croissants, but many of their desserts seem to have less sugar than what you'd normally find, which actually makes them taste better!! It's also healthier, obviously, and makes me feel less guilty about eating so much. Every time I go there I walk out with 3-4 items. The men who run the place and their assistants are always very chill and NICE. They could be pretentious or snooty because everybody wants to be there and it's a small shop, but they're not that way at all. The coffee is good too. Read moreOn a narrow unassuming street in the heart of Madrid is my favorite place in the world! I discovered @motteaubakery 4 years ago on one of my many visits to this beautiful city! Every dessert is made with love in a small 10’ x 10’ kitchen by in my opinion, the best pastry chef in town if not the world! His double layer red velvet cake is a perfect balance of moist mild chocolate cake and lightly sweetened cream cheese frosting. The apple tart has the tastiest buttery flaky crust that is topped with large pieces of soft apples baked with a hint of cinnamon. He has a desert that fits everyone’s taste from simple Financier to divine pavlova! If you are in Madrid, this place is a MUST #dessert #postres #madrid #madridspain #spain#adventherfoodie #delicious...
Read moreIf you want diabetes, this is the place to be ! The lemon pie was overly sweet, the Italian meringue could have stuck bricks together and the wall would have held. We asked for not too sweet pastries, we were not disappointed by the sugar bomb! Overall the base of the tart was good and the curd was extremely buttery and a bit tasteless. The tart does look good but I would no recommend. Person at the cashier was nice, but it is hard to get a smile there. 6€ is a bit pricey, there are bakeries that do a way better job for the same price. Also, and even more so if your kitchen is visible to the public, please clean the walls, they were absolutely not maintained properly, with yellow and...
