on the afternoon of November 26, 2024. As a Muslim tourist, I had hoped to enjoy a pleasant visit, but instead, I was subjected to unprofessional and disrespectful treatment that left me deeply upset.
I was shopping nearby and decided to stop by for coffee. Upon entering, I noticed a spinach pie that seemed appetizing, so I approached the waitress to order it along with a cappuccino. However, I was unable to find a menu with prices either on the table or on the wall. Additionally, there was no Wi-Fi available to access the barcode on the table. I kindly asked the waitress about the prices, but her response was shocking. Rather than assisting me, she raised her voice and rudely instructed me to sit at a table.
At first, I assumed there might be a language barrier and gave her the benefit of the doubt. I sat down and waited, but to my surprise, she served every other customer who arrived after me, completely ignoring me. After waiting for some time, I got up and approached her again, asking for the pie and cappuccino. This time, her response was even harsher—she told me again to sit down and then directed me to another waiter. However, the second waiter also ignored me.
What was most distressing was that the waitress was smiling and providing excellent service to all other customers, offering them their requests promptly and with a friendly attitude. She did not tell them to sit down, nor did she raise her voice at them. It was clear that I was being treated differently, which left me feeling humiliated and disrespected.
I politely asked the waitress not to shout at me or treat me in such a manner, and I requested to speak with the manager. Unfortunately, no action was taken. I was left feeling both disrespected and marginalized, and I believe this treatment was due to my being a Muslim woman wearing a hijab.
I visited your bakery with respect, as a paying customer, and with the expectation of being treated with courtesy and professionalism. However, my experience was deeply disappointing and, frankly, shocking. I am left wondering whether this kind of behavior is tolerated at your establishment, especially toward Muslim customers.
As a result of this incident, I have decided that I will never visit your bakery again, even if it is the only bakery in the city. I sincerely hope that you will take this complaint seriously and address the issue of discriminatory treatment within your staff, as no one should ever be made to feel this way.
