It's clear that this place puts profits over people. We were treated like we were not supposed to be in this restaurant. Either the staff is trying to actively scam customers or it's the owner's policy. I tried to reach directly to the owner company, but they didn't bother to respond. I don't recommend this place to anyone.
Here's what happened:
The food and drinks were great. The cocktails were nicely made, and the food was delicious. However, the way the staff treated us was terrible. We arrived at the restaurant, and our table was next to the door. We asked the hostess if we could change the table to somewhere else. The hostess said that it was not possible since all the tables were booked. She said the only way to change the table is to upgrade our table to a VIP table with minimum spending of 1500€. We declined this offer. There were several tables empty at the time; we asked why we could not swap to an empty table. The hostess got aggressive at this point. She told us we must pay 300€ to change to an empty table.
We decided just to sit at the given table since the hostess had no desire to move us. We ordered food and drinks, and they were very lovely. At this point, the staff started to rush us out of the table. We were told that we had 20 minutes left on our table and we should take a check. We asked the waiter if we could sit there long since we planned to have drinks and enjoy the show. The waiter spoke with the hostess and said we would need minimum spending of 1000€ to keep the same table. We declined the offer, and the waiter once again started to rush us, and he brought the bill to us. We requested to speak with the manager, since we couldn’t believe our ears regarding the minimum spending.
The manager told us that we could keep the table and there was no minimum spending. We were happy about it, but it was very strange we were asked for large amounts of money at first, but then things changed. Our bill at this point was 380€. Since we were going to stay, we wanted to order another bottle of the same wine that we had ordered before. We were told that the wine was out of stock. We decided to take a bottle of prosecco and a bottle of rosé wine.
We waited 20 minutes for the drinks, and the sommelier came to our table and asked if we had ordered three bottles of wine. Then the sommelier told us that we had ordered the wine we had with our food. So now, all of a sudden, they had the previous wine in stock? It was confusing. We said we didn’t want the red wine anymore since we had already ordered something else. We got the drinks, and we ordered some desserts and water.
We decided to take the check. We got the check, and the bill had more than doubled after having two bottles of wine, each under 80€, dessert, gin tonic and three bottles of sparkling water. We started scanning through the check. We noticed that red wine, which we did not take (since it was or wasn’t in the stock), was included in the bill. For some reason, the service charge was doubled. We spoke with the manager again, who was apologetic and promised to remove the wine and both service charges. We got the updated check version with the 2x service charge included.
We had to go again back and forth with the waiter to get the check corrected for the 3rd time.
What should we make of this? Is your staff running a scam where they try to overcharge customers? Are tables priced differently depending on who is asking? The only time we felt welcomed to Mosh was when we spoke with the manager. We were constantly rushed, charged for things that we did not take, and just overall treated very badly. We were a bit late due to the heavy traffic, on arrival it was 7:45 pm and our table was booked for 7:30 pm. However, they indicated that this was no problem and altough the table had a 2 hour time limit on it they would start the timer at the time of sitting down for us. For me the only plus and hence this only star that I leave behind.
The service was very "over the top" kept filling up our wine glasses every 30 seconds or so and asking if everything was ok, very irritating when you are in the middle of a conversation with your diners.
We ordered an appetizer, sushi, even though it was good as soon as we were done our plate was cleared so that there was room to serve the main course.
As a main course I ordered the salmon. Although the plate was served very neatly the salmon was overcooked and burnt on the bottom. My partner also had the salmon, the outside of which was also burnt, but the inside was still raw... If you ask me this salmon was not fresh but it came out of the freezer without being properly thawed first.
When I finished my main course my plate was immediately taken away while the others at the table were still eating, very bad for the "good status" and the "excellent service" the restaurant pretends to have on their socials. There was nothing wrong with the dessert. Standard but tasty. However, after our dessert we ordered an espresso which we still had not received after 20 minutes.
After 5 further minutes the waiter came to the table, we assumed there was something wrong with our order and he came to apologize to inform us that our espressos were coming. However, he placed a small black book on the table with our bill and informed us that the espressos would no longer be delivered because we were now over our 2 hour time limit for the table and we now have to hand them over to the next guests.
We told the staff that we were not ammused and if the espressos would have reached our table sooner, we would have been long gone before even remotely reaching the time limit.
After the waiter disclosed this with his assumed manager (which took another 10 minutes) they then told us we could have the espressos anyway... So then the waiting game started again and after another 10 minutes the espressos finally came...
After this fiasco we got the bill handed over to us AGAIN without having asked for it. This simply felt like they wanted us to spend a lot of money and have us out of there again as soon as possible.
He then blatantly explained to us that there where around 40 euros of "service costs" on our bill which basically acts as tips for the waiters. However he then proceeded to explain that 50% of these service costs are directly going to the owner?? Sorry but in my opinion the tips should go to the waiters trying to make everything to our liking...
In short , the staff tried too hard to make everything to our liking which got verry clingy and anoying. The food was verry expensive and bland, and the 2 hour time limit for an expensive dinner like this is simply too short.
Verry bad experience, would not reccomend.
As a final note: the ambience was verry neat and good. However there are plenty of places like that arround marbella so dont decide to go here...
Read moreRuined my birthday celebration. Nothing in this place was good. I have never ever experienced a worst restaurant than Mosh. I have never been so appalled by the food, service and staff in a restaurant to even write a review.
The place looks nice but this is most likely a tourist trap and they are literally scammers. We get to the table and there is “complimentary bread” like many restaurants give but do not charge for… WRONG they charged us for the bread (and per slice too €3 per slice €15 for the basket). When the bill came we complained as we were not told this and also did not even ask for it but we’re told that it clearly states it in the menu. We also asked for ketchup and we’re not told this was also an extra charge (€2 for a tiny tub). We asked for 1 KETCHUP and we’re given 2 and did not open the extra one. Guess what? We were charged even though we did not ask nor open the extra ketchup. When we complained they said they could not take any of it off our bill.
All the food was also incredibly salty, one of us didn’t even eat half of their chicken satay noodles. We complained and were met with no solution although we were not happy with our meal and had not touched any of it.
They also took our plates away randomly while we were eating and still waiting on more food to come out.
Food came out at different times and not just a few minutes apart but around 30 minutes apart so we all ate at different times. The service there was horrible as we had to ask for our food 4 different times and we were told it was “coming right out” each time. We also had to wait around 15 minutes and asked multiple times for the manager to come round to even complain at the end.
Also like every other review on here also explains a service charge is automatically added and you cannot remove it. Service? We did not even get any, so why do we have to pay for it even though the website booking and menus do not clearly state this? After a back and forth we finally got it removed.
The manager did not listen to us nor compromise. He offered a birthday dessert and shots but we did not want this as we wanted to leave because the food made me feel ill. When we got to paying the waiter holding the card machine was rude, as he was waving the card machine about. He also did not let us see the card machine and quickly pressed convert our payment to euros (yes I saw him press it even though he was trying to be sly about it) instead of paying in GBP.
Would never come again, just stick to your local restaurants in Marbella where you get quality food and...
