We walk past this place a lot and it always is buzzing, and smells divine, but never managed to get a table on the fly (so book before).
We finally managed to get table last Saturday (pre-booked of course) and we were not disappointed.
Firstly the staff are wonderful, welcoming, and very efficient.
The food is standard Chiringuito menu, so don't look for anything outside of the ordinary, but what they do is done so very well.
Personally, I recommend you go with fish, after all this is a beachside Chiringuito. They are all perfectly cooked, so no dry chewy overcooked stuff you sometimes get.
The paella looks fantastic. Our next table had it, but my wife didn't fancy it so could not order it, as with all genuine freshly made paella, the minimum order is for 2 people. I resisted asking the neighbours if I could try their paella!! It looked and smelt good, and there was none left at the end, so must have tasted right too.
Dishes come with salad & chips, or you can have potato pobre and vegetables. Their potato pobre is one of the best I have tasted, which is my favourite potato in Spain (potatoes cooked in rich stock).
Pricing is very reasonable, so I do not understand why it has been marked with 2 €€ symbols (what do people expect for good food?). Examining the menu, the price of 2 course meal would not exceed 25€ per head so I think this is pretty good.
The views are fab, right on the beach overlooking the Med. The atmosphere is buzzing, and service is 1st class. What more can you ask?
In summary, great location, friendly and efficient staff, and good old fashioned Chiringuito food cooked...
Read moreMy 2nd time here. Definitely not my last. Attentive very friendly staff without being intrusive. I observed how focused a waiter was to ensuring someone’s young daughter was happy. He squatted down to her level with such a friendly big brother or young uncle attitude that the little girl immediately went from frustrated about something to glad again in an instant. Not by merely placating a spoilt child (I don’t think that was the case at all) but by meeting her felt need. Everyone seems to have a relaxing time over a meal or tapas or whatever here. And such a beautiful somewhat isolated yet easy access little cove! Oh, I should say, the food is also great. The subtle, balanced herbs on the rosada a la plancha are worth coming back for. The only thing I would change is the background music. It’s quiet enough to ignore (and I do prefer the calming sounds of the beach itself), but the modern rock that was playing from my arrival through my meal was not to my preference. But as I am writing it’s as if someone saw what I was writing ✍️ (but they didn’t!) and have now switched to some soft acoustic guitar and vocals. Nice. 👌 full 👍🏽. Great rest break on my long beach walk today....
Read moreI've been coming to Antonios since 2008. Many different members of staff have served us and have always been polite. Although because of its location there is always an act of not sure they can find a table for us. We've never been turned away and have never made a reservation. (there is only 2 of us so I don't think it's much of an issue). The food has always been good, nothing to rave about but always good quality. I was really disappointed this evening and hope the owners take this as a constructive criticism and not a slur on there ability to provide great food. As a generalisation I order Italian and as the name suggests 'Antonio' did Italian food. The menu has changed over the years but the quality of the Italian dishes didn't suffer as fish and other dishes were introduced to give a wider variety. I've always believed change is good. I had Camembert cheese (which was lovely) followed by spaghetti bolagnese, this was grim! Poor quality pasta sauce. The cost, was indeed, not in line with the quality of food. Over 50 euros...
