Panorama Beach — Restaurant in Mijas

Beware!! Me and my girlfriend ate dinner here 2/8 2017 and I got very sick of the food. We bought two starters and a main course. My girlfriend ate mozzarella salad and baby fried prawns. I ate a tuna fillet and it made me very sick. I started to feel bad already 2-3 hours after the dinner, I was vomiting and had diarrhea all night. I slept one hour that night. I was sick all day after with diarrhea and fever. My girlfriend bought medicine so my stomach would stop. Two days after I felt better I went to the restaurant and complained, I said I wanted my money back. We paid 92 euros for 2 starters and one main course and two drinks which is a lot of money. I received the answer that I should return the day after at 13:00 when the manager was there. I stood there at 13:00 and explained everything to their manager, I showed my receipt from the dinner and also the medicines. Their manager was unpleasant and mean, he said that their restaurant served the best tuna in the world. He said that they sell a lot of tuna and that no one gets sick of their food. He also lied and said it was illegal to give me money back under Spanish law. Then he said that if I had a doctor's certificate that the tuna made me sick and 60 other guests said the same, I would get the money back. You can read yourself how rude them are, unfortunately. It should be added that I had only eaten plain bread with butter earlier that day. NEVER VISIT THIS RESTAURANT. I rent out apartments in Spain and have put up papers everywhere to my guest and say that not visit this resturant which makes people sick! When I did not get the money back I said I would describe my stay at instagram, facebook and tripadvisor and then their manager said he would remove the comments from me...

Well we have been back to the newly re-opened Panorama Beach Cafe now 5 times and every subsequent visit has been increasingly disappointing! On our first 2 visits the new owners were around and the staff and food was great. BUT the last 3 times have seen the portions get smaller, the staff at times arrogant but yesterday, they were simply atrocious. We had a starter at 16:30 of the nachos with guacamole and melted cheese. They must have used the bottom of the chip bag as all of the nacho chips were in little pieces! The kitchen takes a break between 16:30 and 17:30. We stated at the beginning we would order our main food at 17:30. We finished the nachos. No one cleared the plates for more than half an hour. We finished our bottle of wine. No one asked if we wanted another one. We ended up stacking all of our plates together and the waiter still walked by several times before finally picking up the plates. No one came to ask if we wanted to order our food. At 18:15 we simply gave up, paid the bill and left. I can’t possibly see us returning which is such a shame as the location is absolutely magnificent!! Our first review: What great news that the „old“ Kala Beach Restaurant had reopened after nearly 2 years! The renovated Panorama Beach delivers everything that the name implies. The views out over the water are fantastic but also the food is a nice blend of fusion, mediterranean cuisine. Javier, our server, made the afternoon all the more enjoyable! Attentive service in Spain is not always a given, but Javier delivers on all counts! We‘ve already been back and look forward to many more enjoyable afternoons, especially with its location just above the boardwalk between La Cala de Mijas...

This should be a fantastic restaurant, it has everything going for it. Unfortunately it certainly was not on the evening that we went. Young children were running around screaming (and I do mean screaming) throwing serviettes around and all the very pleasant staff seemed able to do was to pull the glass screens closed and stand guard at the door of the terrace. Frankly we should have left when we finished our drinks but we persevered - big mistake. The food was OK but the sauce for the fish was very salty and I would be very surprised if my chips were not straight out the freezer. The waiter was very pleasant, apologetic and embarrassed but was unwilling or unable to do anything about the situation. A great shame as I had been wanting to eat there for sometime. As the waiter said -'it is only one night' but you only get one chance to make a first impression and with the great selection of other restaurants, with excellent sea views in the area, why should I risk wasting more of my money returning. A great shame. I think some sort of 'gesture' would have been in order but of course nothing was even muted. I fear the establishment will be looking for new management in the near...
