The Almond Plaice — Restaurant in Mijas

The Almond Plaice' Fish & Chips unfortunately fell short of our expectations. My partner & I both felt that the fish supper was disappointing. The fish whilst a reasonable size & meaty had a nice crunchy batter but lacked flavour. Accompanied by a meagre portion of thin, soft & limp, tasteless cross between fries & chips which weren't nice at all. My large portion had quite a lot fewer chips than my partners medium, but as they weren't good, it really didn't seem to matter. The serving of mushy peas whilst tasting very nice was also a frugal serving in an extremely small shallow oval bowl & not worth the additional €2. Interestingly, customers on surrounding tables that hadn't ordered a side benefited from more chips, filling the area on the plate where a side dish would go. The absence of ketchup, which had to be purchased separately, further indicated the level of austerity measures within the establishment. There was no indication that ketchup or mayo was free with table service, it was not offered during the order, other than being an addition on the menu costing €O.80c. Further to this there was nothing indicating that another scoop of chips could be requested without the additional cost of being charged for another portion.

Overall, the meal was not worth €14.50. The staff are nice & work hard to keep things clean & tidy & I wouldn't hesitate to return for their standard cafe fayre, but neither of us would return to 'The Almond Plaice' for Fish &...

We had a Afternoon Tea get-together with the la Cala Friendships Group and we all had a fantastic time! The food is super delicious and way too much. We've been given Tupper's to take leftovers home with us. Such a nice thought! Also, I had my 5yrs old son with me and they offered him a milkshake instead of tea and pulled out a little table and chair, colouring book and pencils. So sweet! Staff is very kind and service minded, definitely repeating this, well worth and relaxed...

This restaurant has just changed ownership. We have been regulars here for many years and thought it was very good for breakfasts. However this morning we went for coffee and scones. The scones were dry and stale. We sent them back and were charged for one portion !!! We won’t be going back now, which is sad as the previous owners were fantastic. If they had just charged us for the coffees as they should have done, we would at least given them...
