This little restaurant is close to where we are staying and appeared to be very popular. There always seemed to be people sat outside on the Terrace and lots of coming and going. So Saturday night after the Rugby we were looking for some where cheap and cheerful to eat and we were in need of some vegetables or at least some fibre. The Spanish Restaurants don't always offer all the great Veg we see in the markets preferring chips and salad.
So after walking around looking at the menu's of a few of our local restaurants we decided on the Palacio Imperial Marina.
Its quite big inside and there were lots of tables, some squashed together a bit tightly so it felt a bit claustrophobic. Also, the tables were a bit high, or the chairs a bit low. It felt like my chin was just over the table top and I'm 6 foot. The menu is quite extensive offering a range of Asian food but as is often the case we didn't recognise many of the dishes from British Chinese menu, so it was a bit pot luck what we ordered. In the end i ordered some thing called Japanese Three noodle which I chose from one of the few pictures on the menu but when it came it looked nothing like what I'd chosen.
It was in fact fried noodles with some finely sliced meats, chicken and Pork and two Prawns. If you like Noodles your OK if you were looking for lots of meat you would be disappointed.
Luckily we had also chosen a side of vegetables which had all the usual's, Peppers, Onion, Carrot, Water Chestnuts and Beans shoots, but again absolutely no sauce. Our saving grace was the Beef in Spicy black bean sauce. It wasn't spicy but it did have a black bean sauce that we shared with the other dishes, which made them a bit tastier. Finally we chose some fried rice but again, it looked more like boiled rice with bits of Ham in it?
So, we didn't perhaps choose the right options and some of it was a bit tasteless if like us, you like spicy food but it did fill us up, it did come with lots of vegetables and it wasn't too expensive, about €25 including a glass of wine and a water.
Service was reasonable though it wasn't personal or particularly friendly, more efficient.
Venue could have been better if the lighting hadn't been so bright but it was OK.
Will we use it again?
Of course we will and we'll be a bit better...
Read moreWe have been to Mojacar several times and used to love visiting this restaurant and visited twice during the week of our stay last week. On our last visit on 25th October, it was very busy, and most tables were taken so we were prepared for a wait for our food once we had ordered as there didn’t seem to be enough staff to cope with the number of tables. From the outset, we noticed our waiter who served us was not in the best of moods and certainly did not make us feel welcome. There was hardly any food coming out from the kitchen and we finally received our starter 50mins after ordering. The main course was not as tasty as it should have been, and we received two dishes together with a delay in receiving the Singapore noodles which when they arrived, tasted like the chef had thrown a tub of curry powder in, they tasted very chalky with hardly any spice taste at all. When we finally received the bill, our waiter was very sourly and abrupt and didn’t make eye contact once, preferring to look around the room, like we were keeping him from doing something else. Wish we hadn’t, but we did leave a tip although had no acknowledgement from the waiter and the service we received certainly didn’t warrant it on this visit. We will be visiting Mojacar again sometime but will think twice about eating in this...
Read moreChinese Restaurant in Mojacar, (Spain). My wife and I had been recomended to try the Palacio Imperial Marina and were not dissapointed, far from it in fact. My wife didn't actually fancy Chinese food that day but, I really wanted to try it and she soon changed her mind as the food arrived at the table (she now views this as the best Chinese food she has ever had, so score 5 stars in her estimation). The place is clean and, whilst we ate outside, was most inviting in internal decor. (And as she always judges a restaurant on its toilet cleanliness, my wife said this one was spotless, (so was the gents), as was the rest of the place). The staff were really helpful and polite and, for those that require it, spoke sufficient English. Then there was the food: We shared a sesame prawn toast starter ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ delicious. Then a, shared, main course of crispy aromatic duck ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐, which we both agreed was, pretty much the best we had ever had, anywhere, not just in Spain. In addition, I had a main of crispy beef with egg fried rice, again ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐, fantastic flavours, tender meat and perfectly, delicately spicy flavoured sauce. Once more, this is a place that we highly recomend. Go and try it, we will be going back in the non too distant future and likely,...
