As it was Sunday we had booked Sunday lunch at Shea's up at La Parata for us and our neighbours. So we arrived there just before two o'clock and were seated outside, under a large screen that protects the terrace from the heat of the sun.
There was an acoustic guitarist playing though this time he had a small amp and I'm sure some backing track's as he often stopped and programmed the music through his I phone. I much preferred it last time we came when he simply payed his guitar without any gimmicks.
The meal was 'fine' but not outstanding.
There is apparently (according to Mr Shea himself) a problem with the ovens so he cant make Pork Crackling for example which is a shame.
My Beef was a little bit tough and the Yorkshire pudding even tougher.
There was a lack of Gravy which was watery and had no real flavour and we had to ask for the Mint sauce (my partner had Lamb).
A dish of mixed vegetables (the green squash was particularly good and the carrots with orange juice was refreshing) but there wasn't a lot and if we had all had big appetites it wouldn't have been enough.
One roast potato each was a bit mean but the creamy mash was good.
We all had a different main, Beef, Pork and Lamb whilst my friend had the Sole.
The pudding's were a mixed bunch too.
My chocolate and orange cheese cake was tasty but a bit sickly and the Creme Brûlée (with Banana ?) was a bit too rich and thick for my friends, both of whom couldn't finish their Pud's. Profiteroles were good with lots of chocolate sauce.
Sat in the shade overlooking the pool (which has been given a make over since we were last here) it was a great place to have lunch.
The tree's and bushes are particularly green and lush this year due we think to the heavy rain's they had in January and February.
On balance the meal was 'alright' but not 'a great' Sunday Lunch.
A pity really because a few tweek's could make this some thing special
The wine seemed to be much more to everyones taste and they polished off two bottles as well as some glasses of Cava. I was the Chauffeur for the day so I had to make do with water.
The total cost for 4 including drinks and three courses was about €80 which isnt too bad but this place had such a great reputation I wonder why I can only recommend...
Read moreVisiting restaurant la parata for the first time Friday 17th June 2022 family of 4 adults all I can say is why have not been here before?? We have owned a place in mojacar for the last 7 years and eaten and experienced many many restaurants throughout the area. We have driven by this tucked away little gem on many occasions but never visited thinking it was a place for the residents of la parata area!! How wrong we were! From booking online and the quick response asking about all the diners and any allergies etc, to the actual visit as been first class all the way. Husband has a severe nut allergy which at times has caused a few issues when dining in mojacar due to lack of understanding about cross contamination, we always ensure that all places we are eating are aware of his allergy but at times this isn’t always understood for the seriousness that it should be taken (we have had a few serious times that have been frightening) So back to restaurant la parata They make everything from scratch so fully know what is in all their food Fully understand what a food allergy can mean! But that just complements the absolute amazing food that we all had The food that is produced in this restaurant is on a level with a fine dining restaurant in any country around the world and presented with first class service and hospitality Complements to the chef and the front of service team We were looked after from the moment we arrived until we left, never at any moment felt over looked or overly rushed Perfect food Perfect service Best eating place in mojacar we have ever had Will return often Recommend to everyone Perfect for every occasion Menu clearly priced I can say we have definitely paid a lot more for in other places in mojacar for no where near the experience or quality of food Loved every...
Read moreWow! What a fantastic little restaurant, nestled in the stunning hamlet of La Parata, a tranquil retreat overlooking Mojacar's bustling coastline. We visited on very strong recommendation from friends and chose to go for Sunday lunch. We were so pleased we did. The welcome was wonderful. Richard, Louisa and their team could not have been more friendly. We sat outside initially and enjoyed some pre-lunch drinks, after which we moved inside because of unusual high winds. The restaurant has a very convivial atmosphere. It feels cosy but not cramped and vibrant but not loud.
Now on to the food. It was nothing short of incredible! Richard and his excellent kitchen team prepared beautiful dishes which tasted just as good as they looked. We all had different starters but identical reactions as we savoured the amazing flavours of the dishes. Three of the four of us had the beef (sirloin) Sunday Lunch main course and it was delightful, up with the very best we've had. The beef was succulent, not tough and cut perfectly. We all commented on the freshness and quality of the food.
We (the parents!) enjoyed an excellent bottle of Rioja with our meal which accompanied it perfectly. What gave the all important 5th star was the fantastic service from the entire team. From our initial welcome, food service and farewell chat, we were treated to first class hospitality and service throughout. extremely attentive, polite, fun and professional.
Restaurante La Parata is a real gem of a restaurant and now sits in our list of very special places to visit in the area. We highly recommend this beautiful restaurant and we will return again at the earliest opportunity.
