Casa Sebastian was highly recommended to us and seems to be a well-known restaurant in town. However, despite the reputation, the service was a big let down for us and unfortunately we wont be coming back.
Being the first to arrive at 9pm, we waited about 45 mins to be served, while other tables, whom arrived later then us, were already eating. When asked about it, the waiter was rude, as if we were being impatient for asking. We sensed that they may be taking orders in a particular sequence, but none of this was explained to us.
The next part was the actual ordering. We had no issues with the prices of dishes, however when we decided to only order four ‘gambones’ for the four of us and to make room for different dishes, the waiter was sarcastic and asked why we only ordered four. He also repeatedly insinuated we were cheap and was quite dismissive when we ordered one of the cheaper plates- potatos with egg, (which we did as it had been recommended to us previously). When the plate arrived, the waiter placed the dish down and said ‘this is what you are waiting for’. We felt belittled and insulted, which was really uncalled for.
Overall, our experience was really tainted by their bad service and arrogant behaviour. Despite the quality of food, their service was one of the worse we have had in all the places we have been to...
Read moreStumbled upon this restaurant while doing research on places where to eat in San Jose. Food was good and good portions. Four of us had: 1 portion of clams, 1 tuna tartare and grilled squid to share as starters. Then we had 1 tuna steak and a 1kg fish (shared between 3 people) with some fries (and random fried eggs). Everything was lovely, particularly the tuna tartare. The only small negative comment is the fact that there was a misunderstanding with the order. We were supposed to have only 2 starters but we got 3, which meant we had A LOT of food and we couldn't finish some of it which was a real shame. They could tell we were foreigners and although my sister speaks decent Spanish, somehow the order got misunderstood and they Brough both tuna tartare and the tuna steak. I would definitely recommend this place and I would go again, but I would just say double check what...
