Café bar restaurante Balcon De Maro — Restaurant in Nerja

This is a small cafe/bar in the tiny village of Maro, with a beautiful view of the Mediterranean. Service is quite slow (for American standards) but excellent and very friendly, particularly if you speak Spanish. The berenjenas con miel were absolutely divine, and Antonio (one of the people working there) told me they are picked straight from a nearby farm, not from a store. They were clearly home made and absolutely fabulous. Fish was also delicious. Antonio and the others know all the local customers, which is the vast majority even on weekends in late June. I think the weak Google reviews are from foreigners that don't understand local culture and don't enjoy immersing themselves in it... A terrible place, we waited 20 minutes, no waiter reacted at all, then i went to the bar, and there i had to wait another 15 minutes only for ordering 2 wine. Finally I asked several times if I could order something and without looking at me the waitress started to put 2 dirty glasses on the bar and instead of putting the red wine in the glass, half of it came on the bar because she did not look what she was doing. The personnel was stressed, throwing with plates and so on. This is the third very bad experience and the last, we decided to come never again to this place and I advise everyone to avoid this place. Wouldn't be a cafe I'd go to again. Waited ages around (10 minutes) to be served. Asked for two bottles of water and the menu, as we were intending having lunch there. Water arrived, but no menus - ok, perhaps waitress forgot. Waited a further 5mins, menus arrived. We took perhaps a minute to decide (wasn't extensive list), but anyway, the waitress was having a 'smoke' nearby. When we finally caught the waitress eye, and without knowing what we were about to order, she shouted very clearly "10 minutes". Well, we were out of there in one minute. 3€ for two bottles of water was fine, but appalling service...
