Montemar Restaurant — Restaurant in Nerja

Absolutely average experience. We ordered a starter of Anchovies which was pretty good. Main meals of Hake, Carbonara and Calamari. Hake with Spanish Potatoes was reasonable - €14.50 so didn’t expect too much and therefore wasn’t disappointed. Son had the pasta - Luke warm and tasteless but because it was so busy we couldn’t get anyone’s attention to complain so gave up. I had Calamari which was very average and cold chips (compared to the place next door it was awful). Anyway, husband and I had 3 glasses of wine each but the second top up was about 50ml each which again no one around to mention it to so we gave up. Attempted to order the bill twice and eventually after 30 mins a waiter gave us the bill. We said we weren’t happy to pay for the second glass of wine or son’s pasta as not acceptable and the waiter ‘slammed’ the bill on the table and said ‘you ate it so pay it’. Honest foodie review!!!!!! My wife and I took a stroll along the beach at night, we got hungry and wanted some octopus. Luckily Merendero Montemar had some left, however it was downhill from there. Our waiter gave us a 'discount' €19 pulpo a la gallega that was underwhelming to say the least with undercooked potatoes. You can find much better grilled octopus at nearby coastal chiringuitos (we recommend El Trueno in Benajarafe). We thought maybe the calamari would be better, but got a fried rubbery mess instead. Our waiter was nowhere to be found until check time and didn't ask us how our food was. Definitely won't go back and recommend everyone to stay away, so many other options in Nerja. Food ok. But customer service leaves a lot to be desired. Hadn't finished the starter and main course arrived. Barely finished, with half a bottle of wine still sitting in the ice bucket when the bill was given and we were told we are shut! We weren't offered the dessert menu. Then offered us plastic cups to go away and drink the wine!!! Music was then turned on and turned up extremely loud to get us out.
