Casa Carmen comes across as a lovely restaurant when you walk in, and the staff seem very attentive and accommodating. Our shared starters were lovely, but the main course is when it started to go downhill. My grandmother's burger came out freezing cold and mine and my mother's burgers came with cheese even though we asked for them without it. We were then given replacement food and again, all of our food was cold. When we finally got our food it was the exact same burger just reheated, but we were honestly too hungry to care as we had been waiting 90 minutes at that stage. The staff were disorganised and inattentive, and they were simply walking around the restaurant doing nothing. In fairness, we had one waiter called Paulo who was excellent to us and incredibly apologetic. He made sure we were taken care of and was on the ball the entire time. Also as we asked for the bill, the waitress stood over my mother's shoulder and stared at her as she was placing the cash down which I found was incredibly rude. All in all the food was okay but the staff honestly diminished our experience and I hope they eventually get their...
Read moreWe visited this restaurant for the first and definitely the last time. We wanted to try something different for a change, since we usually go to El Kiosko. But I have to say, this change was a huge mistake. The restaurant’s interior is nice and looks posh, but the staff’s behavior was really poor. When we arrived with a child, both waiters gave us unpleasant looks and didn’t come over for quite a while to ask what we would like to order.
We finally ordered two burgers and pasta for the child. The waitress rolled her eyes, which is unacceptable — especially in a supposedly “fine” restaurant like this. It took about 35 minutes for the food to arrive, even though the restaurant was almost empty — just us and one other table. The burgers were low quality, the meat and the bun were dry. When we asked for dressing or ketchup, we got more eye-rolling again.
We were hungry after shopping, so we ate the dinner, but it was definitely not worth the money. We will never come back here, and we’ll tell our friends to go to the restaurant next door, El Kiosko, where we are always...
Read moreThe pasta you can eat is below average, but when you wait an hour for food, you're so hungry you don't care. If you come in a group of more than two people, don't count on eating together - some of you will have already eaten while others haven't gotten their food yet. Just don't order meat: the portions are smaller than children's and you won't be able to eat it. If you want to talk to the restaurant manager, you will be approached by a very arrogant woman who, after hearing your complaint, will be the first to say that no one should be angry with her! She refuses to acknowledge the cook's mistake which was more than obvious, and yes, they gave us free drinks as compensation, but dear lady, you better go to the kitchen and wash the dishes! The restaurant manager can't afford to act like that! I have a university degree and a diploma in hotel management and I have never encountered such behaviour. If you were my employee, I'd fire you immediately. We will never return and I recommend the owner to replace the manager...
