La Cibeles Bar — Restaurant in Orihuela

We made a reservation for my birthday a month before, & popped in the day before. However, when we got there all the tables were taken. Ok, mistakes happen, but we were told 30 mins & we could have a table, so we waited in the bar area (which was very hot). What was then really bad was we were not offered drinks or food. We felt unwelcome & in the way. The old man was particularly unhelpful & rude. We practically had to beg him to take a drink order, he then scoffed at my husband’s choice which was a cocktail (“for a man??” he said). After about 35 mins we had a drink but asked if we could order tapas. Again, asked a few times. In the end we walked out (about 45 mins in the hot bar). From what we could see, the place was tiny & had no atmosphere, everyone staring when we walked in. Didn’t see much food coming out, so assumed short staffed & everyone waiting. We were not the only people they forgot, a couple came in who had booked & they had no tables for them either. AVOID! It ruined...

If you are looking for some authentic Spanish tapas, with a relaxed atmosphere, then this is the place to go. The food here is really good and the food choices are fantastic. Tapas food is not meant to be fancy but this is beautifully cooked with a wonderful blend of flavours that flood the senses with a rich depth that just make it so memorable. The staff are really attentive and can't do enough for you and the whole experience was certainly one of those that will stick in our memories for a long time. We will be back in Torrevieja this time next year and this will, without doubt, be one of the first places...

Excellent authentic Spanish tapas restaurant! I'm so pleased to have found this hidden gem. There are so many tourist hotspots here serving Italian/Indian/Japanese, but to find a local Spanish restaurant that is truly authentic and has incredible produce is PERFECTION, especially as we are holidaying in Spain! It's a must try. The service was impeccable, they were great at recommending excellent tapas choices and even gave us so super strong Spanish firewater to try at the end of our meal! Excellent food, impeccable service, will be coming...
