Marinasol Restaurant Cabo Roig — Restaurant in Orihuela

I visited the Marina Sol about a week and a half ago and we got the Sunday menu and it was absolutely beautiful the lamb shank just fell off the bone! We were a party of 7 and we really enjoyed it!

We then visited again 2 nights ago as a party of 9 and it was really really disappointing!

Our waitress was lovely but the service lacked a small bit.

She didn’t know the menu really and when we asked about fish cakes/cheese cake she was didn’t know about either.

I got the half rack of ribs and my sister got the full rack and there was no difference

The onion rings were advertised as beer battered but they were the same ones you get out of a freezer bag, breaded.

However, another person ordered a “portion” of onion rings they were better but again I’m not entirely sure if they were proper beer battered.

My dad ordered fish and chips and was waiting 15 minutes after we had already gotten our meals because the chef burnt it.

We were a party of 6, mixed family and friends, out to share the Marinasol menu del día. Unlike those offered in Spanish restaurants it is a fixed menu, best described as British pub. As such it is inevitable that supply and other problems will mean that items will occasionally be unavailable. When this happens it's important to point it out to diners whilst passing round the menus. But after deliberation, 4 of us hankering for cod were told it was off, and a similar fate befell the cheesecake. All in all the food, though we'll cooked and presented, was really quite ordinary. The steak pie was well stuffed with nicely cooked meat but portions were very narrowly cut. A lady exiting the gents toilet as I was about to enter, excused herself saying that hers wasn't fit to use. The gents too needed a service. On the plus side, table service was friendly and helpful, discounting the absence of a heads up on menu...

Based on the reviews here, maybe we caught them on a bad night. A really bad night.

We were able to order quickly but everything went downhill from there.

We were a party of four with two of us ordering à la carte and two from the daily menu. All four dishes, six if you include the starters, were hardly edible. We had one à la carte steak and two steaks with the daily menus and all three were chewy and tasteless. The chips were cold and soggy and the “cheesecake” didn’t come close to being cheesecake.

No one ever came by to check on us so we were not able to order additional drinks, we had to chase someone down to order dessert and honestly, we would have skipped it all together if we hadn’t ordered the daily menu.

Even paying the check took ages.
