The Stray Sod Irish Bar — Restaurant in Orihuela

Arrived at the Stray Sod Irish Bar last night on the recommendation of family living near by. There was already a good crowd there for the all Ireland replay but there was plenty of room on the large terrace and plenty of TV's to watch the match. Considering it was so busy it wasn't long before we had a waiter taking our food and drinks order. Two of us had burger and chips, one had fish and chips and one had teriyaki noodles with chicken and stir fried veg. All four of us thoroughly enjoyed our meal. As the night continued on the entertainment provided was absolutely first class. Over all this has been the best night of our holiday so far. This morning we found ourselves back in the area to do some shopping and found ourselves back at the Stray Sod having a late breakfast. Again the service and the food could not be faulted and again great value for money. No doubt we will be there again before our holiday...

In a group of four persons. One of us had problems with the food. The waitress was unable to resolve the problem. The manager, or at least he was described as such, came and was in our opinion quite aggressive in his manner. He took away all of that person's food when he was told it wasn't acceptable. You can then imagine our surprise when the bill showed all the food at full price. When questioned on this, the manager threatened us with police action if it wasn't paid. Only after prolonged discussion in front of other diners, which I found very unprofessional did the 'so called manager' say if the one part of the meal was paid for then we could go. It is with regret that I have to write this review as we did love the place. We visited twice within the last few weeks, and on both occasions, the service has been terrible. We ordered burgers, and the burger buns were stale and rock hard. My sons kids' cheeseburger was so dry also with a hard bun he wouldn't eat it. After I finally got the waitresses' attention to tell her about the food, the food had gone cold. She changed the burger buns but brought the same cold chips back. I tried to get her attention again, but due to a lack of staff serving, I gave up and asked for the bill. I informed the staff that the food was so bad and cold we couldn't eat it. Not one apology and still charged us for everything. I can safely say we won't eat here again, which is shame as it used to be so good...
