Went for our first visit here on Saturday, after booking before we came on holiday. Venue has definitely improved (in decor, food and hospitality) since changing hands/name. OH had the 2 course set menu and chose the deep fried Brie and the burger. I had the chicken kebab and spicy rice (chips was the alternative). Brie was tasty and a good portion. Kebab was very tasty, generous portion (took some home), rice was good but would have liked a little more. OH said burger was tasty. Entertainment was by the Piano Man. Due to the thunderstorm, he had to totally relocate his electric piano inside and dry everything out, which took a while but obviously safety was most important. Once he got started, it was worth the wait. Good prices and drinks are reasonable. We had a jug of sangria, which we asked if it was freshly made in-house, and were told it was. However, on tasting it (and having tasted a few), we did feel it was out of a bottle/carton as it was very sweet. That was the only negative we could say about the evening and we will definitely be back again. During our visit they were having to turn a lot of customers away who wanted to eat, so would definitely recommend booking a table in advance. We look forward to watching this venue go from strength...
Read moreBooked an inside table for 2.00pm on a Sunday for lunch. On arrival we were shown to our table which was fine (we were the only peaple there at that time). After ordering, the bar (as in my opinion it is not a restaurant inside) started filling up and the football was put on the TVs at full volume (very poor quality) so conversation was now impossible. We asked the waitress if it could be turned down but were told people had booked for the football and its a Man City bar so not possible. We moved to an outside table where we then waited for around another 45 minutes for our food. When the food arrived so did large numbers of very persistant flies - not great to share your food with. The food itself was excellent, we had two steaks, the mixed grill and a chicken tikka kebab. My only comment on the food would be that maybe the steaks could come with a little garnish as it was solely a piece of steak and some chips on a very large plate. Probably a great place to go if you want to have something to eat while watching the football however, if thats not your thing make sure you book outside of the football calendar. Unfortunately (despite living locally) we probably wont return...
Read moreDue to the adverse weather conditions maybe this day they shouldn't have opened until later on so that they were ready for the Hogmanay celebrations. They had had to do a major clean up after rain leaking in. Also had had disaster with a large number of glasses smashing. With only one other table in we thought lunch would be quick but this was not the case. 1 1/2 hrs later we eventually had our main courses. This was possibly due to only one person ordering a starter , but an HR? The food was acceptable but nothing special. My burger was dry and over cooked. My chips were far to crunchy. The salmon was over cooked but the pasta dish was excellent. Service was very slow indeed and we felt forgotten even though by then we were the only table. At least they had the courtesy of opening the windows when one of us made a statement about the excessive strong bleach smell. I have been assured that this was abnormal standards compared to previous visits so please don't take this as a true reflection of what they might provide, however this was our...
