Myself and my family ate here for lunch on Monday and had a nice spacious table for six adults and two children. The service was quick and friendly from when we arrived. The play park close to where we were sat was perfect to keep my two year old niece entertained, so definitely a family friendly place to go.
I ordered the chicken fajitas with a side of patatas bravas. Our food was served nice and quickly (not too quickly that you have to worry if it’s just been banged into a microwave) and all looked very fresh.
The chicken was cooked well and tender to eat. The fajita sauce was smoky but with a good amount of spice which I really enjoyed and the peppers helped add even more flavour to round the dish off well. I often feel that you can get small portions of fajita chicken at other places but this was definitely not the case as there was plenty to be had.
The patatas bravas were probably the tastiest and freshest that I’ve had for a good while. The potatoes tasted very fresh and even though they were very chunky, they were all extremely soft and fluffy. The sauce tasted fresh and packed with tomato goodness which really helped compliment the smoky spiceness from the fajita sauce. Other patatas bravas that I had elsewhere tend to be fairly spicy but I was glad these were more on the fresh and mild side as the spice had been covered by the fajitas.
All of my families food also looked good, especially the fresh homemade chips but I had enough going on with mine so didn’t quite get to dig into those too.
Really good food and friendly service with some great entertainment for the kids. I’d...
Read moreWe were there with a party of 7 from Canada, Spain, and Sweden, they couldn't handle that many people they said. Most of the tables had numbers on them, and ours didn't, because of that we had to pay for every item every time we ordered something. We wanted to order food so they gave us the menu, but did not tell us how long it would take before we could order, we had waited over one hour already, and they said it would be over another hour before we could order our food because we didn't make a reservation, and they had to take care of the people that had made reservations. Which wouldn't have been the problem, but no one there was eating they were just drinking. After one of our guests stopped a waitress to see if anyone was coming to take our order, she walked away and told the owner/manager I don't know which one she was, and started giving us attitude saying one of our guest was rude to her waitress. I was sitting right beside them when they were talking, and he was not rude at all. She pretty much asked us to leave in a rude way. Again, as we were walking out, one had food at their table, just beer. We ended up going up the road and having an amazing meal at the number 7 Restaurant where the people were very friendly and we had a great time.
Update to the owners response this was our first and only time visiting this place and...
Read moreMy daughter and I went for a roast lunch, last Sunday. The food was excellent and especially the sprouts!!! I know, some of you will be going yuk but they were cooked to perfection!!!! Just a shame that we did not realise how huge the portions were, as we both wasted food! Well, we now know to ask for smaller portions. Fabulous and very well mannered staff too! I definitely would recommend visiting The Royal Oak !!!!! Already looking forward to my next visit. Shame the Mexican burrito has gone off the menu as had this a few times last year and was excellent!!! Well...
