We visited Mr. Coffee and Burger while in Peñiscola, Spain. We chose to eat here because it had good reviews, and it was right next to where we were going. It ended up being the BEST burger we’ve had in a long time. Hands down the best burger in Spain, and best burger in Europe! We ordered the Spicy Burger and the patatas rancheros. The bun and veggies were super fresh, the jalapeños were actually spicy! And the sauce on the burger was AMAZING. The patatas rancheros had the perfect amount of cheese and bacon on them, and this delicious garlic aioli hidden underneath the cheese. We also ordered sangria, and out came a goblet of sangria! Perfect amount of sweetness, and under $5 USD! Our daughter ordered the chicken sandwich (and the chicken nuggets, because we went there twice during our 1 day stay lol) and everything was so delicious. Her kids meal came in a cute box with her sandwich, fries, a lollipop, bottle of water, and she got to pick out a scoop of ice cream. All for $9! What a bargain. The second time we visited we tried the quesadilla, along with another burger, and that was just as tasty! We are from Southern California, so we know Mexican food, and the quesadilla was right up there with the best of the best. Our servers, Nabil and Fatima, were both delightful. They were both very patient with us, since we speak little Spanish, and were so friendly with our daughter. The second time we showed up the kitchen wasn’t quite open yet. So we ordered our drinks and gave them our order (we knew exactly what we wanted!) and told them we would wait until the kitchen was open. They brought all of our food out before the kitchen had officially opened! I don’t know if they heard our daughter telling us how hungry she was or if they heard us talking about rushing to the train station, but they made it happen and we are so grateful.
I HIGHLY recommend coming here to eat while visiting Peñiscola. If you’re craving a burger, then this is the place to go. We cannot wait...
Read moreWe were really looking forward to this restaurant. It had good reviews and the card looked good.
We, two adults one 10yrs old, we're sadly disappointed. We ordered two burger meals and a kids menu.
What was good: a table was available and the waiter was polite and English will be no problem. The location is small but cosy and you can find it in a side street, no cars or much noise. The burgers we (the adults) had were really good looking and tasty. No complaints here.
But this was about it. The fries we all got were nothing better you get at a McDonald's. Thin and not crispy at all.
The kids menu got served in a paper box as if it was to go. Instead of a plate. The burger was a loveless put together something. The bun was something I can by as a four pack in the supermarket for 1.99€. The meet (chicken) seemed also like it wasn't even cooked properly. The cheese wasn't put in the bun on the meat, but oh side of it and we had to put it on ourself. There was no salad or cucumber.
Sorry, but that menu for 9€ was just not okay. The included ice cream/yoghurt wasn't offered. We didn't ask for it in the end as we had enough.
If you don't order a drink (beer or coke) you have water with the menus for free (as said in the card). If you order a drink the water will not be offered.
Ketchup and such got only placed on the table after we started eating, which is something that can easily placed on the table right at the beginning.
In general, this was a disappointment and I wish it wasn't. We come to Peniscola often and this restaurant won't be on the...
Read moreWe had to wait over an hour for the food to arrive however some of our company received their food more than 20 minutes before I did and mine didn’t arrive until the rest of our table had finished. When we questioned this the waiter was patronising and told us we didn’t have to wait that long. No apology was issued and we were still expected to pay full price. 100% do NOT recommend. I normally don’t write reviews like this but I feel the way the situation was handled was...
