A hidden gem!
Update: (3 years later) I took my girlfriend to Las Brisas tonight because she was wondering why this quaint little restaurant was always busy with the locals, and why I was always talking about this place.
Once again, Las Brisas served up an expertly cooked meal. We had the garlic prawns to start. The menu simply says "gambas" (prawns) but these were verging on giant prawns. They were chunky and fresh with no grit and no charring of the garlic: absolutely perfect. My girlfriend had the lasagne which was exceptional, with fresh pasta sheets, a perfectly balanced tanginess from the tomatoes with creaminess from the white sauce plus mozzarella, and lean meaty Spanish mince. I had the dorada which was succulent, crisp on the surface and very fresh tasting, and the vegetable sides were fresh and perfectly cooked. Whoever is in the kitchen is very skilled.
They are still serving the same house Verdejo white wine which I think is outstanding.
Both waitresses spoke English well, (I ordered in Spanish, got the reply in English, and it's quite nice to give each other an opportunity to practice language skills!) so definitely give this a go if you're not a Spanish speaker.
Great for fresh perfectly cooked fish or pasta meals in a quaint side street setting, with excellent value for money.
I've been coming out to Torre De La Horadada since I was 3 years old. For over 34 years... No exaggeration. As a coastal town fish and seafood is abundant and I've eaten plenty of it over the years.
Las Brisas served up the best sea bass I've ever had here. Clearly fresh, succulent all the way through except for a thin crisp on the surface. This is exactly how it should be done.
Most notably the vegetables were perfect. This area of Spain is a semi arid desert, so you often find that carrots and broccoli are a bit mushy having been frozen. Not here... The veg was fresh and perfectly done.
The final thing to mention is the house white wine. It is excellent, smooth and drinkable. I think it is a verdajo which pairs beautifully with sea bass. Think sauvignion blanc but toned down acidity and better balanced. Crisp and mildly citrus but without the offensive in-your-face green notes.
The background music was a really enjoyable playlist of relaxing reggae covers of modern songs. Quirky, modern but fitting.
Starter + sea bass main + liquor to finish came in at €23. The service was quick and spot on. I will definitely be coming back.
Please do visit. I want this place to stay in business so I can come...
Read moreWe made an orde of three tenderloin meals. Two of them well done and the last one medium. The chef were not able to prepare any of them correct. Almost all were served raw.
We made a comment to the waitress and they took the plate back to make do it well done. After a few minutes they came back, where they had cut the tenderloin up and fried it almost like a leather jacket.
Complete disappointment and we where not offered any plaster on our wond. Instead we where charged almost 100 EUR for a terrible meal.
All said, the waitress was very polite and nice. We really wanted this to be a nice meal, but the kitchen this day did not have any competence at all in preparing a...
Read moreVery tasty cuisine, excellent quality of service, clean and atmospheric. The dishes were prepared quickly, and while I was waiting for the first course, they brought an appetizer to go with the wine. The waiters didn't make us wait long, and even helped us with a recommendation, by the way, I also recommend trying the shrimp in garlic sauce. There is a large selection of dishes and drinks, and there is a separate menu for wines. There is also a choice of gluten-free and...
