Restaurante Vistamar — Restaurant in Pilar de la Horadada

Don't be fooled by the ambience of the view out to sea. We have eaten in this restaurant twice now since moving to Horadada. The first time we sent everything back as is was cold and we have to say we were not charged but this did spoil the night and we said we would not eat there again. Anyway are son booked us in here for a surprise while on holiday with us and we went with an open mind. Well here are the results. Waited for over 20 minutes for the stater my wife and I had the onion soup, this was heated up in the microwave as it was cold inside and it looked like mushed onion soup. I had the the leg of lamb which was very greasy and again COLD My wife had the orange salmon which was OK. We decided not to have a desert we just wanted to get out. As a long time customer the service and food was shocking tonight! We brought friends who have never been to the restaurant before and we had to send our food back 3 times and all they did was recook/charcoal the fillet (solomio) steaks we ordered and sent back. They burnt them to a crisp!! The starters didn't arrive together and we had to keep chasing on this too. The main courses were just a disaster and incorrect all round, on top of which the service was pretty appalling. So very disappointing!! After more than 5 years of coming here we will now take our custom elsewhere…..and at £150 per seating, twice a month from our family, that is a lot of good business going down the drain. This place has new management and it has improved, so all the older reviews are not relevant anymore. We had a table for 10 booked for 1900, which was early for the Spanish, but late enough with us with young kids. All of us went for the meal of the night at 16 euros each. We were pleasantly surprised! Soups were nice, mains were delicious, and deserts were ok. Kids enjoyed their meals and ice cream, and were served at top speed. With starters, mains, deserts and drinks, we were just ready to leave 2 and a half hours later. The seating area was amazing with fantastic views of the sea and the beach. The surprise of the evening was when they retracted the roof and gave us a view of the parrots in the nearby trees. All in all it was a great night out.
