Restaurante Puerta Nueva — Restaurant in Pulpí

We moved to the area in April, this has been our favourite spot ever since, we frequent at least 3 times per week, the service is usually very good and the staff are friendly, today the service has been absolutely awful, we were left waiting at our table for 45 minutes with no drinks and nobody coming to ask us what we wanted to eat, we also had to get our own menus from inside and order at the bar where we were greeted with a very rude shrug of the shoulders by a very rude man, yes it’s busy, but incredibly under staffed, and no excuse for the staff to be rude as we are always polite and get along with them, I do not like to complain and very rarely do but the experience today has been one of the worst anywhere we have ever been, 1/10.

I gave the food 5 stars as it’s always lovley but we are still waiting...

It was third time lucky with the wine, as the first two bottles we chose were unavailable. As a starter we shared the aubergine tempura, a generous portion size, served nice and hot. The combination of flavours was delicious, the best aubergine I’ve ever had

For our main courses we chose steak and pork. They arrived lukewarm, the steak contained a lot of fat, the pork was pink in places, a bit worrying. Both served on enormous plates with a very small portion of miserable looking chips and a minuscule amount of vegetables. Disappointing

The restaurant is stylish, it was winter and it was warm inside, it was a Saturday and by 10pm it was full and so incredibly noisy!

Overall the food was OK, but not as good as we expected, considering the look...

Visited the Restaurante Puerta Nueva for the second time last night and had a very nice meal. Service was excellent, food quality was very high and well presented. Great ambience and pleasing décor. A couple of things that I feel would take it to the next level. First sort out a uniform uniform for the front of house staff. Chef would look so much better wearing " whites " rather than a grubby looking t shirt. It would be more hygienic and give him some serious gravitas. And finally find something for the grey haired bearded man in the white shirt to do. He just caused disruption to the waiting staff. They clearly had a plan and we're working hard to deliver and his interference...
