Decided to drive the scenic way home and drove through Rojales. We parked a few roads away from the river and then went to explore. The restaurant is located across from the old waterwheel near the river. We decided to sit outside but in the gazebo located at the front of the building. There were approximately 16 / 20 seats outside and the same under the gazebo. A member of staff promptly came over and took a drinks order, so we asked for a couple of menus at the same time. The menu was written in both Spanish and English and had a good tapas style choice. The venue also offered menu of the day, which we both decided to have. There was a choice of 6/7 first course and the same for second course. We were given a fresh garden salad to share and a basket of fresh cut baguette. I had beef stew, my partner had octopus stew. Both were very tasty and piping hot. For Second course we ordered chicken in a mushroom and creamy white wine sauce and a pork chop both came with chips. We were then offered 4 choices of desert. Followed by coffees. In addition, we had sparkling water and a glass of wine between us. The service was very good even though the waiter spoke minimal English (and our Spanish still needs a lot of work!!) Inside the bar / restaurant was bustling but looked clean and well managed, the toilets were up a small flight of stairs but were also clean and pleasant to use.
