RESTAURANT LA GUAGUA — Restaurant in Roses

This is the second time we have eaten at La Gua Gua. The owners are extremely pleasant and the staff are very efficient. The location on the beach is excellent. I ordered the prawn carpaccio, I had to wait for it to defrost before I could eat it. It was very good when chilled rather than frozen. The seabass was recommended, again delicious and fresh, however you have to have the whole fish so the cost was high at 68 euros. (This was explained to me) it was ultimately far too much fish for one person, so wasteful. My husband ordered the escalope milanese, though pleasant, when served it looked like a children's meal, with a few chips and no garnish of any sort. Lástima de haber tenido el servicio tan lamentable que me tocó, porque el sitio es agradable y la comida buena, aunque algo cara en relación calidad-precio. Cuando llegamos vino la que sería nuestra camarera a limpiarnos las manos con un gel hidroalcoholico en spray. Al preguntarle si podía limpiarme con el mío propio, para no mezclar (qué después quedan las manos pegajosas y demás) me dijo que no, que estaban obligados a hacerlo así. Curioso cuando el señor de l mesa de al lado estaba a menos de medio metro. Cada uno entiende las medidas de seguridad como le apetece. Durante el resto de la comida, la camarera atendió con simpatía (intuyó que forzada) al resto de mi familia, porque a mí sencillamente me ignoró. Fui la única a quien no le dio la carta, no contestaba a mis preguntas, me retiró un plato aún habiéndole dicho a una compañera suya medio minuto antes que aún no me lo retirara. El colmo fue cuando al pedir los cafés yo pedí una manzanilla (lo tenía claro, no estaba preguntando nada). Dijo que me traia la carta (supongo que de infusiones) y nunca me llegó a traer nada. A mí, al resto de comensales les trajo los cafés, la cuenta y se deshizo en comentarios y gracietas. Está claro que a esta camarera pseudo pelirroja (teñida) yo no le caí bien, pero considero que eso no le da derecho a hacer mal su trabajo, tratarme con el poco respeto que me trató (todos en la mesa se dieron cuenta de que “le había caído mal”) y sencillamente no atenderme, porque la manzanilla tuve que ir a tomármela...

Location is marvelous, a deck in front of the small bay of Canyelles Petites. Fish is fresh, bought daily from the local fish market nothing from fish factory. The tomatoes are from the owners own garden. Lovely dishes, fresh and local. Service is very friendly and professional. Expect to pay a little more than average restaurant. Dinner for 2: two entrees, 2 main dishes of fresh fish, one dessert to share and a bottle of wine + water and 2 coffees 120 €...
